Re: The Official Star Wars Episode VII Thread
Cosign everything jamrage said. Especially the part about being the same movie as new hope. Zero fucks given about that. Loved it.
Re: The Official Star Wars Episode VII Thread
How do you rank this against the other films? To me it's better than the prequels, and maybe tied with episode 4 since it's almost the same movie
Re: The Official Star Wars Episode VII Thread
For me, it's for better than 1 and 2. Yeah the acting is terrible in 3 but it has a lot of good going for it. It's too early for me to say definitely either way but if I had to make a pick I'd put this between 3 and 4.
Re: The Official Star Wars Episode VII Thread
I really like episode 3, but one of the best aspects of that film is knowing that it's the last time I'll ever have to deal with Hayden Christensen as Anakin. It's the best of the prequels, clearly, and has more going for it than ep. 4, but my initial impression is that this film is better. I really need to watch all of them again, but right now this is where I am on it.
What's the prevailing theory on Snoke? Darth Plagueis would hold up and sort of makes sense, given that he came up quite a bit in the previous film, but there's a lot of (misguided) chatter about him being Revan. There's anecdotal evidence to support it, but I think it's a stretch. There's a lot of shit that needs explaining in order for Revan to make sense to people who never played KOTOR, and I don't see them having the time to do it.

Re: The Official Star Wars Episode VII Thread
Nobody knows, so there's no need to hide it. It's not Han and Leia's kid, that's for sure. I think that it's pretty obviously Luke's kid that he mind wiped and put on a desert planet like he was when he was a kid. Rey is a great pilot with a knack for fixing things like Anakin and Luke were. If that's true it explains why she was able to pick up on the force very quickly. The real question is who's the mother?alpha wrote:Rey?

Re: The Official Star Wars Episode VII Thread
There is a reason Rey and Finn's last names are not revealed and everyone else in this movie has one.
Usually the most obvious answer is the right one in the Star Wars world.

Re: The Official Star Wars Episode VII Thread
Jamrage, put a spoiler tag in there. You dropped a bomb I your post.
I still maintain opinion on the actor who played kylo Ren. Hopefully he improves by episode 8.
I hope we get to at least hear Yoda's voice at some point during this trilogy. Since he retained his identity when he became one with the force, perhaps he can manifest his physical form through some sort of medium.
I saw this with my son and it was a joy. When the original characters appeared on screen he started excitedly clapping with the rest of the audience. It was beyond cute.

Driver was one of the standouts for me. I thought it was fucking hilarious when Kylo spazzed out and started wrecking that console with his lightsaber.
Carrie Fisher's acting, though. Ouch!

Frank Oz recorded vocals for this and apparently they were played during the movie. Both Obi-Won's got in too.360 wrote: I hope we get to at least hear Yoda's voice at some point during this trilogy. Nope. if you're in this thread now you should have seen the movie.360 wrote:Jamrage, put a spoiler tag in there. You dropped a bomb I your post.
I don't know anything for sure so there's no need to spoiler my theory. These movies are all about family connections though so I think it's a fair guess.

‘Star Wars’ porn sales up 500% ahead of ‘The Force Awakens’ premiere
The Force is strong with these ones.
Ahead of the much-anticipated Friday release of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” super-fans are consuming a record amount of “Star Wars” porn.
Porn retailer GameLink said sales of “Star Wars XXX” — a 2012 parody flick that features the classic characters making Wookiee — have surged 500% in the last two weeks.
“We began noticing a gradual increase in sales of the title at the beginning of November,” GameLink executive Jeff Dillon told Mashable. “But it wasn’t until the past two weeks that purchases of ‘Star Wars XXX’ really skyrocketed.”
The online adult entertainment shop did not say how many copies of the DVD it has sold, but revealed that it has shipped the most orders to San Francisco. Little Rock, Ark.; New York City, Tampa, Fla.; and Chicago rounded out the top five cities for "Star Wars XXX" sales.
The porn seller did not mention how sales from other “Star Wars” porn flicks — such as “Sex Wars,” “Star Whores” and “Star Babe” — were doing.

ya but palgueis has been mentioned in ep2/3 so i guess that's on the table. in one of the clone wars cartoons/something like that they show plagueis and he's real big like snoke. although we don't know how big snoke actually is in person, he might be yoda sized and covering up for it.

Nah but since he was a prominent figure in the franchise, they're going to give Finn a backstory that links to Lando.

http://motherboard.vice.com/read/the-fo ... ource=mbfbAnd then, the next thing I thought of on the drive home was that I kind of wished it was more like the prequels. That George Lucas had been more involved.

Fuck vice and all their shitty articles.
Real talk tho, people under 25 probably hate Star Wars. At least in my small sample size of people I know.

I don't think fin will be linked to Lando. He doesn't have a last name because storm troopers don't have names.
Rey is definitely Luke's daughter.

ok bro, let me summarize for you. george lucas took risks with the prequels & ended up going off the deep end. the new movie plays everything conspicuously safe, and so feels a little lacking. this is an interesting thought that i wanted to bring to the conversation. any thoughts?

I read the same article and thought it was trash.EMCEE DARTH MALEK wrote: any thoughts?
Playing it safe was the only choice after how mad people were with the prequels. Add that to the fact that many newer fans hated the prequels you have to make a movie that caters to hard core fans and new ones as well.
Re: The Official Star Wars Episode VII Thread
Hey. What? This is happening?
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3748528/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Ep VII = tons of fun, though we definitely didn't need to see it in 3D. Ah well.
Also, Rey is absolutely Luke's daughter. Symbolism at the end much?
Already excited to see what goes down in Ep VIII.

Re: The Official Star Wars Episode VII Thread
Cosign a lot of what's already been said. A lot of fun, they went a little overboard with the fan service and just tried to recreate the OG trilogy instead of taking it anywhere new, which is mostly fine but also slightly disappointing. We've literally seen three death stars destroyed now though, enough is enough.
The movie looked amazing and the action sequences were pretty much perfect but I was surprised how poor some of the writing and acting was. That one conversation between Han and Leia where they literally clarify that Kylo Ren is their son, in every sentence of the conversation, was so bad I couldn't believe it. Doesn't help that there was zero chemistry between Ford and Carrie Fisher, who was obviously just there to cash a check and was visibly umad they had the nerve to ask her to stop eating long enough for her to fit on an IMAX screen.
Surprised at the lack of backlash against them killing off Han so casually, its bullshit and they didn't build up that conflict properly for his death to mean anything. Fuck Luke, Han IS star wars.
Nervous about Rian Johnson directing the next one, other than his Breaking Bad episodes I think he's overrated as a director and I dread the thought of him somehow bringing along his buttbuddy JGL into this universe. I'd rather lick Jabba's taint than see that untalented hack with lightsaber in his hand.

Re: The Official Star Wars Episode VII Thread
Harrison has been begging to be killed since TESB so he's a pig in shit right about now. Besides, how much is left for him and that shaky hand with that relic blaster? Trust me, I was mad depressed leaving the theater but I have come to realize it needed to happen.
