Eddie Guerrero Dies

Post by Magneto »

Dave@wrestlingobserver.com

Eddie Guerrero was found dead in his hotel room in Minneapolis this morning at the age of 38.

The only details available is that Guerrero came in yesterday for tonight's scheduled television tapings at the Target Center where he was scheduled in the main event. He was staying at the Marriott City Center hotel in downtown Minneapolis.

He had an early wake-up call shortly after 7 a.m. that he didn't answer. Chavo Guerrero, who he was traveling with, called the room and again got no answer. When knocks on his hotel room door went unanswered, security got the door open and Eddie was found dead in the bathroom.

Many have noted the coincidence both of Guerrero passing away in a hotel room, similar to Brian Pillman, in 1997, in nearby Bloomington.

Guerrero was one of the best wrestlers of this generation and immensely popular within the industry.

this is sad. would you say most of these untimely deaths (minus owen heart) are related to either drugs or suicide?

Mostly drugs through the years. There's not as many suicides as you'd think.

Eddie Guerrero was found in his hotel room in Minneapolis with his toothbrush in his mouth. He apparently died while brushing his teeth. At this point, the belief among WWE personnel is that Guerrero died of heart failure.

Shortly after Guerrero's body was found and removed from the room, Chris Benoit, Rey Mysterio, Dean Malenko and Chavo Guerrero visited the hotel room to say their goodbyes. WWE wrestlers and staffers were visibly shaken and emotional while leaving the hotel to go the Target Center, the site of tonight's Raw/Smackdown taping. Word from WWE sources is that the tenor of tonight's taping will be dramatically different and that the Smackdown show will need to be revised.

Yo, that's hard to believe. He seemed to be at the top of his game. He was finally a main-eventer. I haven't watched wrestling in like 3 or 4 years, but when he came over to WWF I enjoyed his angles.

I remember being really happy when he came to the WWF and being all excited, and then being immediately pissed off because he broke his arm the first time he got in the ring.

Man, this sucks, Eddie seriously was one of the very best of his generation. I'ma see if I can find some matches to post.

One of my friends just told me about this in a phone call and it's pretty damn upsetting, so sudden. One of my favourites ever, for sure. I was so happy he was finally a main-eventer and was really looking forward to his next title reign which I'm certain wasn't too far around the corner. After he turned face in the WWE, he literally couldn't be turned heel for more than a few months because the fans loved him too much, and I think that's a real testament to how great he was.

Tragic. RIP.

Double Edit: Here's a Megaupload of the same match. (I often do yousendit and mega at the same time because one or both won't work. This time both worked).

You're welcome Barknee, but I can't take credit for the Rey/Punk match, that one I just jacked a link for. Thanks for Low Ki match. I'm working on getting an Eddie vs. Ultimo Dragon match up right now.

True, and it looks like we're gonna have two different Ultimo vs. Eddie matches, so that's cool.
