Aeon Flux / Peter Chung appreciation thread

Post by drizzle »

Picked up the Aeon Flux DVD, HOLY SHIT. I forgot how good it was, or more likely was not able to fully apreciate it when it was first out. Sci-fi weirdess mixed with action, Machiavellian intrigue and bondage = recepie for awesome

Anime heads - has Peter Chung done any other series besides this and Reign the Conqueror? I know he did one of the pieces on the Animatrix, anything else worth looking out for?

Aeon Flux is most definitely appreciated.

I remember one episode where Aeon (was that her name?) had to pick a lock or do something with her tongue. And there were these super closeups and heightened sounds of her tongue working.

But yeah, I'll definitely check out that new DVD.

I liked the cartoon back in the day, shit was insane....crazy licking sounds and sinewy chracter designes.

And I agree, Jolie would have probably been cooler for the job.

I used to love this shit when it was on 'Liquid Television' back in the day.

I have mixed feelings about the forthcoming film; mainly because it doesn't really LOOK like 'Aeon Flux' to me but partially because they already made an 'Aeon Flux' movie... it was called 'The Matrix' and it was pretty good.

I was testing the new PS2 game of Aeon Flux today (thats my job) not bad if you like that kind of thing. I don't really remember the cartoon although I remember the max which I think was on the same show.

Nah, The Maxx was on "Oddities, along with "the Head"but they were kind of a similar type thing tho.

Liquid Television was a variety type show if i remember correctly.

liquid television is also the place where beavis and butthead got its start.

it also contains a spoof on the pinwheel show, in which after watching i got freaked out in such a memorable way, i can't imagine pinwheel the same way since.

One more thing...I too thought Angelina Jolie would have been better for the part. However I read an interview somewhere where Peter Chung went at lengths about how Tomb Raider was an Aeon Flux bite and it put a halt on a lot of the merchandising they had wanted to do with Aeon Flux so he's pretty salty about the whole Tomb Raider franchise.

I saw the film and Charlize Theron was pretty convincing..she even kinda sounds like the original voice actor.
