Post by deepfriedjellol »

after all the "hubub" and "dude that movie is awesome" and "id watch hustle and flow twice in a row if i had the time" comments

i decided to watch it

ASS

i couldnt understand a fucking word anyone said for the first 30 mins
and then big black dude from me, myself and irene goes from church duder to straight up wanna be in the span of 10 minutes
then he goes from straight edge perfect husband to hanging around whores and drinking and smokin n shit
someone wanna tell me WHY they picked such a softy to go through that transformation?

i turned it off

I personally love this movie. I don't know whether or not I can vouch for it as a good movie, but I could understand every word, and I found the versatility of Anthony Anderson's character pretty endearing. It's like he's just trying to be one of the boys after he's settled and married. And his wife gets pissed, so what happens? She gets to see what he's been doing with all of his time! Damn near heartbreaking... it was a movie that had me rooting for its characters, and that's pretty rare these days.

Is it on video? I have an inkling of an urge to watch it again.

This and Crash were severely overrated. Capote, Syriana, Walk The Line and Brokeback were much better.

I'll agree about Crash, but as for those movies being better than Hustle and Flow?

I thought this was obvious. He didn't go through a transformation, that's how he always was. He just had to play the role of "good husband" to appease his ballbuster wife.

And that's on you if you can't understand what they were saying. Do you live in the sticks or a gated neighborhood? It's not like they were reciting dialogue from Finnegan's Wake or some shit.

I liked hustle and flow. But I would have to agree that Capote and Walk the line were much better.

I really liked H&F and thought Terrence Howard was pretty phenomenal.
And DJ Qualls made me cringe.

Walk the Line was overrated but I ain't mad at it. I don't know how Reese Witherspoon won an award for the role, she was mediocre I thought.

that's because the best actress category was filled with mediocrity. her performance was nowhere near award-winning

maybe maybe maybe she won cause everyone who watched it fell asleep and had to base their criticism on the commercials

that movie was overrated just like almost every other movie that got praise this year. that shit was the varsity blues of rap movies. a flashy oversimplified look at a complex industry.
