Denzel Washington the Greatest

Post by Patches O'Houlihan »

discuss....

Deja Vu is great, Tony Scott doin his thing as usual, good concept, been done before but NEVER like this.

I think next up for Denzel is some Gangster movie with russell crowe directed by who, no less than Ridley Scott.

it looked pretty cookie cutter in the trailer...

didnt pique my intrest at least, and i generally check movies starring denzel.

He's one of my favorite actors. Easily one of the best of the past 20 years.

i don't know why, but denzel has always kind of gotten on my nerves and never get excited to his movies. i always end up checking them eventually though, i just never understand the hype.

man on fire for example....got TONS of hype and to me it just seemed run of the mill. i guess to me he always kind of plays the exact same character, which is just himself as a detective/hero of some sort.

^^ Well he wants to do some comedy but they don't like seeing him in that role really. But he wants to do it.

Denzel Washington is great ... One of the greatest maybe , I think his Malcolm X is the GREATEST performance in the history of cinema. Seriously, it's untouchable...

I don't know about greatest ever, but it's undoubtably one of the top 5-10 performances. It pisses me off how people can't just appreciate Malcolm X as a fine piece of art. White people can see the artistic value in a film about murdering guidos (Godfather, Goodfellas, The Sopranos) but can't acknowledge the artistic relevance of a film where a black guy :gasp: says mean things about some of them.

Wack.

^^^^only a matter of time before white guilt came knocking to this thread

denzel is the shit, no argument there. There should be a movie where Denzel and Morgan Freeman are father and son who travel america to kick ass and lay hos. That would be amazing

i was talking about denzel the other day at work and i was shocked at how many ppl didnt know who he was and didnt like him. ive always thought of him as one of the top 5 actors. but alot of these ppl that didnt like him were saying shit like how he always plays the same roll and shit. i guess he does play the good cop quite a bit but hes also able to play everyother role under the sun. he plays a dirty cop in training day to malcom x to an angel in the preachers wife to a fucking civil war hero in glory. i dont understand some ppl.

I actually didn't read that post before I posted. I've seen Glory and Malcolm X and they are good movies. I don't remember being blown away by his performance in either after watching them. I saw them both a long time ago though. Maybe my post should have said "recently". But seriously at least the last 5 or 6 movies I have seen him in he plays the same exact fucking guy.

Word. And what bothers me the most is that even though I like Pacino, these are the same people that are giving dude a pass.

Shit is fucked up.
