Well, let's see, Beerfest was a horrible movie, but I have to say that I didn't laugh harder at any movie made in 2006.

The 40-Year-Old Virgin was a mediocre comedy with some good laughs, but also a lot of spots where the actors should have stuck to the script because they couldn't ad-lib for shit. It really squandered some talent that has been used much more effectively in other films.

Also, I think you're referring to my cousin that got shot in Mexico, he's alive and well, even though the bullets and subsequent life-saving surgery gave him an impromptu gastric bypass and he apparently looks a bit thin these days.

Oh god damn that was fuckin' hilarious, I can't wait for this movie, good thing its not that far away. Seth Rogen has been one of my favorite comedy actors since Undeclared (Saw this before Freaks and Geeks), glad to see he is finally getting his time to shine.

Lou, how were Rogen, Rudd, Malco, and Carrell's talent collectively squandered in 40YOV? I thought it was the former three's best performance to date.

Seth Rogen's ad-lib skills are terrible, and if he was aware of it, he should have stuck to the script, and/or wrote a funnier script.

Paul Rudd was nowhere near as good in 40 YOV as he was in Anchorman.

I've never seen Malco in anything else, but he wasn't in some drop-dead hilarious part, he was just pretty good that's all.

and as for Steve Carrell, yes, he did a great job in 40 year old virgin, absolutely, but he has made bigger impacts on me with smaller roles (anchorman from Bruce Almighty, as himself on The Daily Show) than he did here.

I'm not saying the movie was terrible, just that it was average and then blown completely out of proportion by too many people. No biggie, stack it in the pile with Napoleon Dynamite and The Nutty Professor (Oh no he didn't!)...

I watch 40 year old virgin at least once a week. I think it is hilarious. The quotables in the movie are great. I am a big Paul Rudd fan. I think he is a funny dude. I will watch pretty much any comedy that he is in.

its one of the best comedies i've seen in years. its basically a romantic comedy that doesn't insult your intelligence with manipulative drivel and a main character who is going to die of ovarian cancer.
