This guy was awesome, RIP. Gave me the same feeling as Mr Rogers.
Speaking of which, does anyone know if it is true that Mr Rogers was in Vietnam and went crazy and had to do Mr Rogers neighborhood as punishment? My sister told me that today and I LOLed.

Yep. It's still a time sink when I don't have anything to do in the early afternoon, just flip on PBS and there he is: "we're gonna see if this mountain could use a friend. [paints another mountain with 2 brush strokes] Hey mountain. Here's a friend."

Check the snopes link up above.
There is a game in development for the Wii called "The Joy of Painting with Bob Ross." I'm extremely excited.

What was the ostensible purpose of this show? That you would paint along at home?
All we ever did was come home after school, get high and bug out.
Same shit every time- "Oh man, he just ruined it . . . Oh shit! That's dope!"

It's always real cool when he pulls a squirrel out of his pocket or some shit and feeds it for a minute or two.

bob ross was actually stationed at eielson air force base, where i went to school, back in the 70's.
my art teacher in high school, ms. hilgemann, would actually have him come in (before he was ever famous and on tv, but was garnering a buzz locally for his paintings) and have him teach one class each semester as a guest lecturer.
she said he would tell students straight up "i don't do this because i love to paint necessarily, i do it because people pay A LOT of money for good paintings." FUCKING SELL OUT!!! kidding, rip to the god, and word to what mt2 said about "he fucked it up, oh shit dope" very on point.

I wonder how much a Ross original costs. I bet they are highly collectable.

I was looking at the upcoming releases for the Wii, and this was listed:
Bob Ross: The Joy of Painting
"Enjoy making happy little trees with this, the game based on Bob Ross' television paing show, The Joy of Painting.

Edit: I completely missed Smooth Lou's post above. Shame on me for thinking he wouldn't know something Nintendo related. Shame on me.
