Searching For Bobby Fischer (1993)

Directed by Steve Zailian, (Though he's probably more known for his screenplays; Schindler's List, Gangs of New York) it's a story about a young chess player who is drawing comparisons (well, by park drug addicts) to Bobby Fischer.

Anyone else a fan of this movie?

I love this movie... This and Fresh made me want to play Chess. Also really strong cast.

The real Bruce Pandolfini, Josh's chess teacher, is the guy in the park who refers to him as "young fischer."

I was reading up on some things in this movie, and the (villain) kid in the movie was based on a real character who actually didn't attend school just to play chess...

According to imdb, this kid did a movie called "fluke".
He was pretty damn good in Searching For Bobby Fischer, he should have stuck with acting.
