Okay, There are a handful of classics pre-85 which i enjoy (scarface, godfather, animal house, etc.) but generally I can't get with older flicks.Cleanhobo wrote:Yeah, I knew you'd say something about me writing "hate."ObeseJesus wrote:didnt say "hate" just not that interested. Admit it, you love the shit outta that movie.ObeseJesus wrote:85Cleanhobo wrote: When were you born?
What about Animal House? Godfather 1 and 2? Scarface? Raiders of the Lost Ark? Temple of Doom? All the same as Caddyshack?

oh i do think it's a superior film, although not necesseraly by a lot.FreshShabazz wrote:two separate issues: which movie is the better movie and your interpretation of the films' themes.drizzle wrote:Yes, but this isn't an emo kid who has everything in the world but still has the blues. You're doing a great disservice to what's admittedly one of your faves by reducing it to that level just for the sake of argument. This is a guy who has no prospects because he lacks the basic human skills to adapt to the world around him. The society he is at odds with is not a sheltered priveledged existance, he lashes out at legitimate symbols of human corruption.FreshShabazz wrote:Lol... no, I'm saying the SELF-IMPOSED condition of feeling like you don't belong in the society is a MAINLY (not totally) White feeling.drizzle wrote:so you're saying that the condition of not feeling like you belong in the society around you is exclusively a white predicament?
btw you're being extremely presumptious about my background by saying i'm choosing taxi driver because i can relate to it more.
I hope you're choosing Taxi Driver cause you think it's the superior film.
Your interpretation of the film's themes and their relative importance is what I have issues with, not with which movies you like more.
I think taxi driver and do the right thing are both fantastic... they're both in my all-time top ten.
all this went fuckhead simply because i disagreed with it being dated, that's all

Fair enough. I just think you're watching the wrong movies, but I'll leave you alone. I just watched a movie from 1945 called Scarlett Street. Black and white, film noir type stuff. Directed by Fritz Lang. In the last 20 minutes Edgar Robinson murders a woman with an ice pick. Then the girls boyfriend gets blamed for the murder and eventually GETS SENTENCED TO DEATH. Robinson loses everything he has and wanderers the streets homeless, insane with guilt.
Plenty of fantastic, unbelievably disturbing old movies out there.
