Philadelphia (1993)
Fallen (1998)
He Got Game (1998)
Training Day (2001)

His performance in The Apostle is the best performance of that bunch, imho. :gyeah: :gyeah:

Kilgore is a much more memorable performance - and it's one of the best 10 minute performances I've seen - but it's too one note to fuck with his performance in The Apostle.

Duvall is awesome. Besides the mentioned movies, he killed it in Network and MASH also.

Co-signed.

Top 10 of our time.

Sean Penn
Bobby D
Daniel Day-Lewis
Ralph Fiennes
Denzel
Michael Caine
Johnny Depp
Bill Murray
Dustin Hoffman
Gene Hackman

There's two people who should get on lists like these but don't cause they never play "dangerous" roles; Tom Hanks and Kevin Kline. They barely missed mine.

I don't know if Brando would qualify as "our times" being that his heyday was the 50s - 70s.

yeah I see you on that, I only included Brando on the strength of the Godfather alone, knowing he isn't from that type of background, or wasn't around any of that type of road type of stuff you know, that brother fooled me, yes he did, he's a good fucking actor, just from the strength of that, he acted heavy, but yeah your right, I shouldn't have included him

It is about time others see how great the great one is.

My personal list of his top ten performances

1) Forrest Taft On Deadly Ground
2) Mason Storm Hard to Kill
3) Jake Hopper Belly of the Beast
4) Nico Toscani Above the Law
5) Gino Flino Out for Justice
6) Casey Ryback Under Siege/2
7) John Seeger Mercenary of Justice
8) Orin Boyd Exit Wounds
9) Sasha Petersovich Half Past Dead
10) Harlan Banks Today You Die

He put in Oscar work in a supporting role in Executive Decision also.

I would go Mason Storm #1 and Nico #2, but the rest of your list is great.

You guys really need to put in the effort to see Urban Justice. It is the apex of Steven's 21st century wiggerdom, but it works. Eddie Griffin is in it. It really is his best movie since Ticker.

playing yourself over and over only adding slight motifications like "he's a chef" "he can play the guitar with travis tritt" "he is native american" doesn't really count as great acting..

What are you talking about? Expect for sequels he plays completely different characters in every movie. Shit, sometimes he is a Chicago police officer while in other roles he is a LA police officer meaning he has to play the character in a completely different way in order to show the differences. Hell i would say it takes more acting ability to do this. And lets not forget the times he is an undercover FBI agent. And that is not even touching the times he plays a special force agent.

Or a former theif who is forced to work with the police, or a special agent with yakuza training, or a wrongly imprisoned professor, or a Lt. Colonel in the air force, or a Doctor, or a Shadow Man... Dude has range.
