Are The Roots good in concert?

One of the best hip hop shows I've seen, but then I seen them circa "DO YOU WANT MORE!?!?" in a smaller club, so times may have changed, but when I seen them since then, they busted some crazy medleys live.

The Roots used to be really dope in concert. I've found myself in places they were performing also in the last five years, and at this point they are basically a mediocre jam band.

(don't mean to sound pretentious, but for real: it's a rite of hip hop passage. The show isn't what it used to be... but that's only relative to themselves. A Roots show in the 90's was a fucking phenomenal experience. Now, it's just a good ass time.)

Actually the only other group that has impressed me as much as the roots live is the coup.

The Roots are great live because they use real instruments.

The Roots have always had a reputation for being great live...

I've seen them a few times, and they were good - they give a long performance, which is usually preferable to your average half hour Hip Hop shows...

The more recent shows I've seen of theirs have got a little boring, but they're still better than most...

I just worked a Roots show Tuesday at YALE. Needless to say, very much worth it for the fans....oh btw, Hub is no longer in the band, the bassist is some thin white dude...

I've seen them probably 15 times at least. They always throw down for a good show, but they aren't as good as they used to be. Popeye was onto the reason why, they get a little too jamband-esque now for my liking. I want to hear Thought rip shit when I see them, not hear the band play Skynard and Metallica guitar licks.

Even still, you'll be hard pressed to find a better hiphop show.

I can't deny that their live show has gotten a bit monotonous lately, but if you've never seen them then it's definitely worth checking out

I saw them about 10yrs ago and all they did was pretty much play cover songs

after that I never bought a single Roots album and have developed a hatred for live hip hop bands but if you like that sorta thing go to the show yeah

1997 or 98 Alachua Music Harvest. I was supposed to be working security, but instead of busting these kids for lighting up, I joined in.

It should be a hip hop requirement that you have to attend at least ONE concert by The Roots.
