Witchdoctor - A S.W.A.T. healing ritual is my favorite album to listen to in summer, rolling down the street.
EVERY DAY IS A HOLIDAAAAY!
organized noise really shines on this one.

marinville: I'd be willing to bet Stakes Is High was released in the summer time. Just a guess, 'cause I certainly didn't buy the album anywhere near the time of its release (never been a huge De La fan, though I love the shit out of that album now), but music has a way of staying with you in your subconscious. You probably rocked the shit of Stakes Is High during the whole summer you bought it, and now all of those memories are permanently etched in your brain without you fully even being consciously aware of it, thus the reason you deem it such a great summer album.

Stakes is High definitely has some fucking memories...
not necessarily the year of its release but just in general... "Dinninit" on a hot summer day smoking a blunt is life...
First "Summertime" listen of the season as well... I avoid that song like the plague all year round just to hear that shit for the first time once Summer kicks...

I think this has everything to do with AC, and very little to do with PUTS. I think PUTS is good summer music too.marinville wrote:despite their lack of popularity around here, all people under the stairs records are excellent for summer time listening.

Funny how people have completely different associations with albums. I'm sure many of my selections are not summer albums for a lot of heads.

Death Certificate has Summer Vacation on it. It also was played all throughout my summer in '91 so thats where my association comes from. Steady Mobbin', Givin Up The Nappy Dug-out = summertime cuts IMO.B. Ware tha Siniq wrote:Interesting...Philaflava wrote: Outkast - ATLiens

Illadelphhalflife too. What They Do is not a "fall" track.
Nas' album came out in April of '94 so it's definitely a summer album. Iron Man came out in the sumertime too.

July or August of 1996. I remember bumping that and Beats Rhymes and Life for most of my freshman year in college.Cleanhobo wrote:marinville: I'd be willing to bet Stakes Is High was released in the summer time.
Co sign on the PUTS aslbums. love listening to them in the summer.
I also love listening to Sittin' on Chrome. Regulate, Doggystyle, Chronic, Me Against The World, Paul's Boutique.
as for funk in the summer I like that cooled out slow tempo shit. songs around 70-80 bpm with some crazy synth melodies. shit is perfect. I need to make a mix of some riding music.
