Slug: ever met anyone from Philaflava while on tour?
Moderators: TheBigSleep, stype_ones, Philaflava
i met Slug in '99 i think.
in Austin, w/ the Alcoholiks & the Beatnuts.
had just got into the underground thing and was too much of a fan.
we was on some sneak up and take a photo shit.
saw him again in Tally in the early 2000's @ the Cow House.
called him Sean in a gas station before the show.
i could tell he expected to know me, since i used his govt and all.
he soon realized i was an annoying fan breaking the artist/listener boundary.
funny shit.
i was an idiot.
prolly wouldn't introduce myself if i saw him again today.
too embarrassed from my past faggotry.
recorded a mixtape track last week over the "it's the nicotiine.." beat w/ hopes to get my friends hype for a Vegas bachelor party in March.
still his best album.

oh, i still got it. it's all that's left at this point.
that cab shit was funny. especially when he played us his boy's demo and you gave him a super honest opinion on it.
"first thing he's gotta do is change his name"
that shit was funny.

malpractice that shit took me 12hrs+ due to the weather.
that's how I get down on the road. I drove out to cali, 14hr drive days, just traveling like wind across the rotten fruited plain.

i never really 'met' sean past a 'look! it's slug!' fan level but i've done that twice.
once in 2002(?) in brighton. i got him to sign a copy of sad clown bad dub 4 which i told him i bought from hhi. he wrote 'hhi is dumb, slug is dumber' on it.
then this summer in bristol, in the carpark by the boat him and ali were performing on. he did his 'ice cube face' in a photo. i said something like 'amiable'. he said he liked my rhymesayers shirt. i was hideously geeked out. but i had just driven over 3 hours to get there and was tired.
fun times.
but then, i don't post on philaflava - just lurk like a mf - so this doesn't really count.
this post has been made from the soft wood pulp of sustainable Scandinavian trees.

i remember the first time i met dude we were choppin it up about somethin random then all the sudden i hear a loud scream and some chick charging towards us then jus grabs onto slug and starts crying
then sean mouthed the words "who the fuck is this?" to me....needless to say that was my cue to leave.

We both grew up in E town, same year in school. I'm friends with Babble, Fataz, the Boggs, the Grimms, etc.zygmontone wrote:damn wheels, didn't realize you were down with kizer... we probably have some mutual acquaintances.wheels wrote:Before Kizer passed we got extremely weeded and went to see an atmosphere show at Metro. We were late, but somehow dude managed to slide us up to the front so we were pretty much on the rail. At some point in the set Kize gets the blurry eyed stares and is just zoned the fuck out on what's happening on stage.
Sluggo comes over and points right at pete and does the "I'd rather that you throw your hands in the air but if that's too demanding you can just stand there and stare."
At which point Kize snaps back to life and gets all geeked. He's all "Man that was dope you hear that shit I was zonin' and he busted that line about me freestyle slug is dope blah blah blah." He hadn't been much of a fan prior, but I guess that really impressed him because he hadn't heard the line before.
I was wearing an atmosphere shirt and that line was literally printed on the back. I didn't have the heart to tell Kizer.
rip
RIP.
And that story you tell about Irish Eyes and the air conditioner... I was either there, or that shit happened more than once. Or maybe I'm just inserting myself into the memory of your story but I don't think so.
that was cool of you to listen.sean wrote:Ipl wrote:sure. why not.

that's the first time the original artist has listened to me shit on their old work.
good to see you relaxed about it.
guess i'll even give ANT credit if it ends up on anything.
