Who's your favorite stand up comedian?
It's a toss up for me between:
Louis C.K.
Jim Norton
Chris Rock
Dave Chappelle
Greg Giraldo
Seen Louis C.K. a bunch of times and always has me laughing so hard my head hurts.. Norton did the same thing. Never got to see Chris Rock live yet but he's got some classic shit though his new stand up wasn't that good. Seen Greg Giraldo live and he's funny as shit. Always kills it on the roasts they do.
Saw Donnell Rawlings "Ashy Larry" in NYC.. dude was mad funny.
Met Dave Attell in Miami and that dude's got mad emotional issues.. funny fucker usually but in person that dudes fucked.

i think i'm the only person i know who doesn't love george carlin. i mean, he's definitely done dope shit but he's faaaaaaar from a favorite of mine.
it could also have to do with hearing his older shit later in life. guys like him and pryor originated so many things but if you hear them after more recent comedians (who've taken their ideas and ran ran with them). it's hard to have perspective on how funny that shit must have been when they initially said it.

Not really hip to any of the newer comedians, because I suck like that, but my all-time favorites are: Hicks, Carlin, Pryor, Rock, Kinison, and I've been listening to a lot of Lenny Bruce lately as well. Some of his performances are hit or miss, but when he's on he was one of the best.
Throw Mitch Hedberg in there too.

nothing of the derivatives i have seen (murphy, lawrence, chappelle) comes close to the impact of Richard Pryor: Live On The Sunset Strip. it stands the test of time like no other.Blockhead wrote:i think i'm the only person i know who doesn't love george carlin. i mean, he's definitely done dope shit but he's faaaaaaar from a favorite of mine.

That last Kat Williams had me crackin' up.. the one w/ Tink Tink.
and I actually laughed at Dane Cook' s last one in the stadiu,.. the newest one is reeeeal week though... but I liked the joke about the haters sending him e-mails.
I recently got the Richard Pryor Show on DVD and man a ton of those skits I thought were from Sat Night Live for some reason.. I guess I must have watched these back in the day because they all seemed familiar and fucking hillarious.

cosign most of the names mentioned. I don't know if I'm distracted by his appearance or what but I just don't get Eddie Izzard.
Others I like not mentioned:
*Arj Barker
*Daniel Tosh
*Ricky Gervais
*Michael Ian Black
*Harland Williams - check out his Crowd Control Vol I and II on youtube (audio only). He just improvs and riffs with the audience. Shit still cracks me up:
