i dunno how possible this is (as far as when which matchups would happen), but just based on strength, i think the last four would be like Spain, Brazil, Germany, France.

the losers in the QFs would be Argentina, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Italy.

i think Mesut Ozil is gonna be a big breakout star that takes Germany as far as they'll go. Fabiano, Villa, Gilardino will be among the top scorers, dark horse for that award would be Kiessling.

RBG, you're right on with Spain and possibly Brazil, but imo France is abhorrent at the moment and Germany isn't too strong as well. England is deserving of one of those spots, and with my Dutch bias, I think the Netherlands as well. Sure, we dicked around in some friendlies lately, but our qualification was more than impressive.

I hope we can do great things in the WC. We damn sure deserve it.

Dutch always had great team, but you sucked always on the Cups lately, and i was always expecting high ranges from you.
Qualifications are shit. What you beat malta or andora or faroe, with 6-7 goals, and you didnt played fairly one tough game.
Friendlies are shit too. Just to test some players.
You see, fucking Chiellini injured RvP, motherfucker

France, Spain, England and Italy got 'easy' groups, sigh.

Group G will be G'd up. NK don't stand a chance. Portugal or IC? Can Brazil qualify as number 1?
Not a chance. We're gonna stomp on Denmark.
Nah, wish you the best of luck. Hopefully we will win the group, not too sure though. I'm actually pretty scared of Eto'o against our defense. Andre Ooijer & Joris Mathijsen versus him? Is going to be hard to stop him.

We played Japan a few months ago and we beat them 3-0 IIRC. They're going home.

Our coach (v. Marwijk) scoffed Okada (the Japanese coach) by asking him where their coach was located. They actually met and shook hands at that 3-0 match. Knowing the Japs, he'll probably commit an honorary suicide or harakiri or some shit soon.

The dutch played Scotland, Norway, Iceland and Macedonia. Far from the toughest group, but no 6 or 7 goal matches.

thing is we're still a ways away from the WC.

i agree that france are gay under Domenech but we said that at the Euros and look how far they went...the thing is they are a country with lots of talent, and even if some big players get injured, they'll have great replacements. there's always a team that sucks during qualifying but comes up good in the tourney.

ditto with germany..we all know their history. the fact is they are big and strong, they'll gain momentum after fighting through a pretty tough group. and they have that x factor in a player like ozil, they still have good strikers, ballack and frings, et al will raise their games like they always do in big tournaments.

england will fail miserably and lose to someone on pens as always. i dont think theyre too deep or versatile. the first crisis that comes their way, they'll fold.

i love the dutch, but you've never won a wc and havent gone too far in one in some time. plus all ur stars are frail as fuck. rvp, robben, sneijder are all apt to break their legs just walking around the house. dont think ur defense is too strong either.

If RVP, Robben and Sneijder are injured, we still have van der Vaart, Kuijt, Babel, Elia, Affelay and some more to replace them. Defense is frail, have to give it to ya. We'll probably implode like always and you're correct, we have never won a WC. Should have twice/thrice, though

England under Capello is real solid, they did well the past year. Germany is ok and as you said, they usually do well in big tournaments.

France just plain sucks at the moment. They suck for quite some time now and I don't expect them to do well at all next year.

It'll be interesting. Don't rule out Argentina either, because they can field two/three teams capable of competing in a WC. Don't think they will win but all things considered, they will be a force to reckon with in South Africa.

All in all, looking forward to it.

England still don't have a proper duo upfront or a dependable goalie. That's why they won't win shit, but we knew this.

How do they work around the Gerrard-Lamps problem these days? 4-5-1?
Whether to Jason of Philaflava or John Podesta, I will speak my fucking perspective openly

the thing is even deeper than any particular personnel problems with this england team tho
it comes down to philosophy and the talent to implement it...and thats a problem with the entire concept of "English football"

if they come up against other good teams
can they like the spanish, control the ball, dictate the pace, and carve out chances? or can they sit back, harry people, get in people's faces, defend, soak up pressure and then counter attack like (the new) brazil or italy? resounding no on both questions.

it seems like they can only germany style bully people with their big lumbering midfielders, but they lack the efficiency and unity that makes germany successful at that.

and i think lately they've been playing gerrard on the left, to answer ur question

Lando to Everton sounds like a done deal, whether it stands to be beneficial for either side remains to be seen. The size and strength of the EPL could give him problems, but he should find playing time easier to come by than at Bayern.

Ole Landy Cakes is better than people give him credit for. I am more worried about him being 5 foot nothing in the EPL than anything else...

Probably the most bizarre match I've ever seen, 6 goals for Hannover, yet they lost 3-5

Barca and Chelsea have to be favorites.

Inter has always had a soulless feel to their team (to me at least), and ultimately when they face an opponent of equal talent their lack of team spirit/belief comes back to bite them in the ass. Guess that's what happens when you coast on easy street in the Italian league all year, and then are asked to match the intensity of a team that's had to fight for everything they've got.

Feb 18th seems like forever away...

They are looking to replace Henry, and he fits their system perfectly, as a diminutive, creative attacking player with a bag of tricks.

Hughes finally sacked I hope the cunt cries himself to death christmas eve. They made Toure tell the players, what cunts.

EPL looks exciting again with a smaller gap between 1-3. How did Manu manage to lose by 3?

Porto to face Arsenal. The fixture of the draw is Inter Chelsea by far, also fun to revisit Milan Manu.

you're aware they have literally next to no available defenders right? I'm not talking about having to play second stringers or youth players, I'm talking having to play fucking Darren Fletcher and Michael Carrick at centre half. We survived for about 2 games with that, the last two we just looked woeful. Sucks, but thats football.

Ah well, better than Liverpool who lose ONE play and become a mid-table side, roflz.

Just going by his character. I know he did great things with Inter but he doesnt look like he's gonna handle the pressure of managing a club with the expectation the sheeites have. I was expecting him to pull a paper bag out to breathe in during that conference. Once they go on a bad run the press will eat this man alive. This appointments been made in a similar way to Ramos's at Spurs, i can see it ending exactly the same.

He'll have a better points average than Hughes though.

The outcry in the media over Hughes is a joke, 50 million on Lescott, Toure and Bridge, and they've conceded a shitload.

They sold their best defender to their top 6 rivals for peanuts (5m) and Villa have about 10 clean sheets this season....
