It varied depending on how many guests they had, whether Stretch and Sear
were there, and the amount of exclusives they had to play.

I guess from the hundreds of nights I spent taping, if I was to give a %
comparison, it would be this:
75-80% music
20-25% talking, phone calls, interviews, freestyles

The talking WAS a great part of the show, though I usually didn't tape that
part, to save tape space.
I also didn't always tape the freestyles, if I didn't like the artist.
Nor did I tape every song, because like any show, songs got repeated
here and there.
I don't think too, too many people really taped COMPLETE shows and
that's probably why they're going for so much $ on e-bay.

no i was just curious, because as like a huge talk radio fan, i find the little bits between mixes of them just kicking it and busting on each other in the studio to be hilarious and awesome. so i was just wondering if a normal show had only like 25 minutes of talking and the rest music or what.

thanks for the breakdown verge

yea thats what i've noticed that alot of these downloads cut off the talking

like i was listening to one today of bobbitos last show (his 12th anniversary i guess) and it seemed like there would be some compelling talking but it was cut short

word up, i would love to get my hands on some COMPLETE shows,, how long was each show?

in my infinite boredom, i might just have to edit the shows that ive downloaded and make a compilation of the talking....

4 hours.
Really. 1am to 5am. Sometimes they went later.
The talking and phone calls were really great, classic shit.
But most heads were just taping for the songs and enjoying the talking.

A couple of times, I would start making separate tapes.
One would be for all the talking and freestyles and one for the music.
But it never lasted until I was back to just falling asleep with the
tape recording.

I did have a couple of tapes full of the talking segments though, that's not a
bad idea.
I think at one point, like they were selling tapes full of 'freestyles', they
might have put out a tape full of classic non music moments.
My memory's really shot, but I think maybe on one of the anniversary shows,
they threw on some older classic phone calls.
I remember the show with Kool G Rap answering the phone calls was
hilarious.

hahaha thats dedication

but word i would love to verify if there was a best of talking tape, that shit would be crazy, and that G Rap shit sounds great too

cuz yea there was just such a great dynamic so the talking could be some of the best shit ever

hahaha i totally agree with that statement. on the 12th anniversary show i was listening to yesterday, bobbito is like "oh we got like 30 great guests lined up, alot of special shit".....and then the tape stopped.

Yo I know we got a lot of Stretch & Bob threads but I think we need a definitive sticky where we all up every episode we have and try and map it out by date.

I got a tone of stuff I've DL'd over the years, plus a few tapes I bought and ripped.

Am in between computers at the moment but get to upping ish within the week.

^ Yes. A while back I was talking to Verge about creating a thread where we do this. I'd be down.

I've thought and talked about that same thing as well. I don't have (m)any full shows but I'd be down to contribute what I do have and to help by searching for complete rips of ones I have, looking for other shows and for the days the shows originally aired.

Has anyone got their very first show?? Now that's something I really need to hear.

Yeah I'd like to hear that too, talk about historical.

I don't even know when that was though I remember Stretch saying that November 8th, 1990 was the second show and that the guests were MC Serch and Two Kings in a Cipher.

word i was thinking that today , WE NEED THAT

oh and on the subject of talking on the show, i came across a file today called KRUNCHTIME 97 that is like an hour and half of stretch, bobbito, and sear just kicking it talking shit, taking calls, letting callers freestyle. it is absolutely hilarious.

Okay. As long as enough people are willing to be down with this, I don't see
why not. The "radio show, mixtape" thread is too congested to really do
anything like this in.

If it doesn't go anywhere, it'll just be unstickied. I don't see any harm with
this and it could actually work out well.

I'll lock this in a little while and start the sticky.
