The U.S. played really really well today. They were probably the better team on the field. A well deserved draw.

Howard and the defense were fantastic after the first few minutes. Cherundolo and Onyewu deserved a special mention.

England needs to get their shit together.

Ruud Gullit is fucking awful for ESPN. Lalas sons him at every turn. Dude needs to go away.

I was semi kidding. He is brutal and Llalas looks like a cat ready to pounce whenever Gullit is talking.

They played well, but slow down there, let's not get carried away. They created a couple of good chances but the draw was down to a terrible goalkeeping error and the sheer resilience of the American defence. Besides that, England were the much better team and were unfortunate to draw. But hey, that's football. Congrats to the Americans.

Once Altidore figures out how to maximize his talents he could be scary good. I see him getting a Drogba-esque skill spurt during his mid 20s

I was talking today, not in general.

England clearly has more talent than the U.S., but in terms of team cohesiveness I thought the U.S. was better. England wasn't unfortunate to draw, the U.S. played well enough to draw. U.S. could have stolen the win actually if the Altidore chance had gone in instead of off the post. The U.S. has a good team. Not one of the world's absolute best or anything, but they have the talent to beat almost any team on the right day. They've proven that.

I was talking about today too. America had only two shots on target and didn't create too many chances that really endangered England. I know about their team and I respect them, but there's no way that one could consider them the better team today, and that's not even considering the nature of their goal.

Cool. If you re-watch it though, I think you may change your mind. I'm watching it now and it really is ridiculous the amount of chances England created in the second half without converting them.

Which part do you disagree with? US played decent and I'm happy with the result, but England had more chances and should have won this game.

Um let's not pretend like englands goal was some overpowering show of talent. Yes the English brain fart at goal was bigger, but the Americans let a pretty routine defensive stop slide by as well.

Both these teams need to improve a lot if they want to reach a quarter final.

 at Green, even the kids know you don't reach, you get your body in front of the ball. Of course, it was Dempsey

Couldn't be happier about the draw.

a friend of my placed a 100 euros bet on england win and im happy he lost, cause he didnt wanted to listen me when i was telling him like half an hour that usa squad is something that should not be underestimated.

and da fak rehagel is still forcing poor charisteas, when salpingidis is way much better.

tommorow i expect nothing but win against ghana.

That was sorta my point. The U.S. just seemed like a more cohesive unit than the English. Sure England had chances, but I never felt like they were on the same page with one another. The U.S. is much closer to playing its best game than the English. If the English play their absolute best they probably win 2 or 3 to nothing today.

I'm English by blood so I want them to do well, I'm just reporting what I felt watching the match.

It will be interesting to see how Slovenia and Algeria look tomorrow. I'm hoping for a nil - nil draw.

are u kidding?! Usa's defense is fucking terrible and got exposed big time! Their defense has been suspect for a long time.

I thought they played sloppy. Tim Howard is a fucking beast!!

Yeah their defense was suspect but not exposed. Argentina would have eaten us alive. England exposed themselves if anybody. How do you get exposed tying a team that was a 3-0 favorite in some circles? Englands mental game was exposed as well as their apathetic attitude.

I finally have a day off work tmmo (today, I guess) so I can watch full games other than briefly on my Palm Pre when I'm supposed to be working. I went off the clock to go to a bar to watch the last 20 mins of the game. Some 40 something white guys asked me "hey man, are we supposed to be cheering for the white or the blue?" Bar was dead, this is Jesusland. :thebest:

You Yanks finally started playing some real football, not that armoured egg ball shit :)

US deserved the draw.

@ the guy talking about Salpingidis - I think Otto wants to play with a towering striker, that's why Charisteas is playing
