You have to feel bad for Cameroon, that game could have gone either way. The Danes look really soft on defense, don't expect them to go far.
The Netherlands really played a boring game, but they're through so they can work on their problems in the third game against a quality opponent. Maybe Robben is back for the next round which would obviously be very helpful. Van Persie had a rough game.
Brazil/Ivory Coast will be very interesting. Brazil probably goes through to the next round, but they need to play better than they did the first game.

No you don't.jamrage wrote:You have to feel bad for Cameroon.
They didn't show up against Japan and their gameplan was incredibly naive last night. They left the flanks completely open, Ekotto got exposed. Denmark had a shaky start but their defense got itself together and there was multiple excellent counters where all of the players reorganized during a fraction of a second. Both goals happened so quick, 2-3 passes BOOM. Individual error by Poulsen did us dirt but Denmark clearly deserved the win - both teams could have scored more though. The best game so far, easily. Also the first time this year a team won after being behind.

Saying that Denmark deserved the win is a bit much when Cameroon were raining shots in (10 more shots and 5 more corners) and controlled the ball more than the Danes.Comedy Quaddafi wrote:No you don't.jamrage wrote:You have to feel bad for Cameroon.

I suppose Denmark deserves credit for not breaking at the end, but mistakes were made by both teams. Denmark's counterattacking served them well, and it will be fun to watch Denmark/Japan. I believe Denmark MUST win, because Japan has the better goal differential, and I have my doubts that they can make it happen.

I suppose you have a point but we were much more assured tactically and more clinical obviously. You just can't play with only two defenders in the worldcup, their fullback where playing like supporting strikers. Their only great chances were a shot from Enema which Sorensen excellently saved and a corner where Idrissou was marked weakly. They had a lot of opportunities but we basically gifted them the goal they scored. Don't forget the two 100% chances for Jon Dahl and the one from Rommedahl while it was still 0-0.

LOL Frenchies:
KNYSNA, South Africa -- France team director Jean-Louis Valentin said the World Cup team refused to train following a dispute Sunday on the practice field, one day after striker Nicolas Anelka was sent home for insulting coach Raymond Domenech.
Valentin also said he has resigned from the French football federation, saying he was fed up.

"It's a scandal for the French, for the young people here. It's a scandal for the federation and the French team," Valentin said. "They don't want to train. It's unacceptable.
"As for me, it's over. I'm leaving the federation. I'm sickened and disgusted," said Valentin, who walked away from the training field, got into a car and drove off.
The latest chaotic scene comes a day after Anelka was kicked off the team for a profanity-laced tirade against Domenech, whose tactics and management skills have been called into question.
The team arrived at training as usual Sunday and got off the bus to greet fans, but Domenech and France captain Patrice Evra stayed on the bus longer to talk.
When Domenech and Evra finally disembarked, fitness coach Robert Duverne was on the field putting down training cones. When Evra and Duverne started to argue, Domenech walked over to intervene. Duverne then stormed off, throwing his accreditation badge to the ground.

Evra then handed a letter to the press officer, and the players, en masse, boarded the team bus and drew the curtains.
In their first two matches, France drew 0-0 with Uruguay and then lost 2-0 to Mexico. France can still advance to the round of 16 with a win over host South Africa, as long as Uruguay and Mexico don't draw in the other Group A match.
Domenech said he gave Anelka the chance to apologize for his profanity-laced outburst, and that his refusal to do so justified his expulsion from the French World Cup team.
Anelka was sent home Saturday, hours after revelations of his angry tirade was revealed by sports daily L'Equipe.
Domenech said on the French television show Telefoot on Sunday that "I gave him the chance to come and talk and to say sorry" but that "he didn't want to and that's why I went along" with the French soccer federation's decision to throw Anelka out.
Domenech added it was not "a personal problem between the coach and the player," but "a problem concerning the federation and the image of the French team."

I said this pre-WC. The majority of Italian goals will be either set pieces and the majority of the set pieces will be penalty kicks.Comedy Quaddafi wrote:Shocker that ItaLOL had to rely on a soft penalty.
Italy is ass.
By the way, I just downloaded the Brazil - France match from the 2006 WC. Zidane was heavenly.
Pretty shameful shit in that game. So much diving; mostly from Brazil. Two handballs on Fabiano's second goal. Dunga being an irritating, unprofessional faggot. And of course Kaka's second yellow for a phantom elbow to Keita's face. Ugh.

Simple solution. Post match video reviews of critical incidents with severe penalties for diving/cheating/dishonest behaviour. It doesn't stop the red card, but i'm sure this guy would not have done this if he faced a severe penalty (banned from current and next world cup, or something similar).
Diving can sometimes be a grey area, but incidents like this are clear cut unsportsmanlike dishonesty.

It will be interesting to see if FIFA upholds that second yellow, but I think they probably will due to the chippy nature of the game before that point. Nasty behavior by both teams, and all the diving at the end was disgusting.
Brazil did look a lot better this time than the first game however. The lack of cohesion they occasionally display is able to be counteracted by amazing individual performances. That second Fabiano goal shouldn't have counted either. Their defense isn't so good that they can't be scored upon.
Will be interesting to see what happens with the final game in this group.
New Zealand has been great. Surprising they didn't give up a second goal, but good for them. It'd be great if there was some sort of miracle and the Italians didn't even get out of the group stage.
Paraguay played well, they should be through to the next round.

Definitely excited for the final group games. So many teams are still alive that there's going to be an emphasis on attack. Should provide a nice appetizer for the knockout stage.
Kind of disappointed in the way the Brazil game turned out, but at least Kaka isn't at danger of missing something important, though those cards kinda fucked my fantasy team. Good to see him finally show up (in spurts anyways). But like the announcer said they shouldn't have put themselves in that position to begin with. Should have been playing one and two touch passes around the midfield, rather than holding onto the ball and looking for the foul. Ahh well. Despite still not playing their best ball they're through to the knockout stage and have time to gel.

I can't lie, I thought Kaka was acting like a bitch before the diving from Keita.Req wrote:god i love it when Brazilian players are on the other end of the cheating. AND HE GOT SENT OFF TOO.
fucking brilliant.
It's sorta like Italy beating beaten at their own game by Zealand (10 men behind the ball).
But it's not like this is the first incident...
