There is more Bob McAdoo in their games then David robinson. Robinson's D was superior (even though later in his career, McAdoo got good on D imo) then Amare and Bosh. I also feel Robinson was a better passer.Sankofa wrote:I was thinking about spacing when typing it, but didn't want to add to the stream of randomness. Based on numbers, Bosh would be more likely to go in for the rebound were Wade to miss and dude would be good for the bailout pass converted to jumpshot. If I had to chose between the two, it'd be Bosh because (A) dude's exhibited no headcase tendencies, (B) injury history, (C) I just don't like Amare. How much influence do you think David Robinson had on players like Bosh and Amare? I considered the Admiral to be a very tall 3 whose game was predicated on a (strange) jumper, and using quickness to get by his defender. Thing is, on defense, he seemed a traditional 5. How is Bosh's D?Gilbert Subpoenas wrote:bosh takes it to the rack. thing is, having an oversized jump shooter may be a good thing for players like lebron and wade. that is 2 less big men (bosh and his defender) that aren't in the paint area when wade/lebron drive.
Is anyone else getting the impression LeBron is playing games with hopeful fans nationwide for the ego boost? Throw in "I'm a winner" handshakegate with his going out with a whimper and his meticulously manicured image grows cracks. I don't consider myself an iconoclast, but I certainly don't care for mindless worship and this whole "will he or won't he" got tired about three months before it began. Admittedly, I am a Wade fan, but his handling of impending free agency is something from which GLOBAL ICON could take notes.

I fully expect the Lakers to be represent in the NBA Finals next year as long as major injuries don't hold none of the core back.
The following players are not under contract for the 10-11 season:
Unrestricted Free Agents
Derek Fisher
Shannon Brown (Player Option)
Josh Powell
DJ Mbenga
Restricted Free Agents
Jordan Farmar
Adam Morrison
I expect Brown to exercise his player option. It would be difficult for him to get playing time on a winning team elswhere, so he should just get his minutes here in LA. D Fish needs to be resigned, but I'd rather him be in a Sam Cassell type role where he doesn't play much in the regular season and we just get him ready for the playoffs when we need him. Hopefully the Lakers can carve a spot for him in that regard with a capable starting guard to replace Fish in the lineup1. I would even like them to get a Ron Harper type triangle guard that h`as size, handle, and defensive ability as opposed to a traditional point guard. The triangle doesn't call for a traditional dribble penetration lead guard because it's a spacing and passing offense.
The rest of those free agent muthafuckas I wish them good riddance. We don't need them and I just hope that we can move some players that are under contract like Luke Walton or even Lamar Odom.
I say Lamar Odom because we should get rid of him while his value is high. Yes he is the remaining leftover from the Shaq trade (Lakers got better of the deal) and he helped us win 2 chips, but his inconsistent ass can get the heave ho. If there are some players out there that the Lakers covet that can help us move forward to the future, we should grab them immediately. NBA draft or players from other teams, I don't give a fuck. We don't have any draft picks until the late 2nd round and someone picked at that slot is more likely to wear streets than a uniform, that is if they make the team at all.
I'd also like to see Phil resign for another contract also. It would be devasting if he doesn't come back to the Lakers and that could be even more worse than any player coming into the fold.

The strategy worked for Philly picking up Deke after AI played well with him during the Allstar game.naturalborn103 wrote:Escobar305 wrote:Yes, I believe, they would work well together. What the fuck does that even mean?
How can you use an all star game, where nobody plays defense and in the best case scenario, its competitive for the last minute, as a litmus test to figure out of Dwyane Wade and LeBron James would play well together? I would love to see Wade and LeBron on the same team because it would be such a clusterfuck of ego's and machismo that it would be high comedy to see the bitch made drama unfold. The only way it works is if Wade takes the 2nd banana role.

Philly used the allstar game as the reason for the trade involving Deke. No one's saying its the end all to determine if they play well together but it can be used to see if they can coexist on the floor together.Positive A wrote:Escobar305 wrote:So their styles of play don't complement each other?

So you're saying the Phliadelphia 76ers used the all star game to gauge whether their superstar (Allen Iverson), could co exist and mesh well with a guy who couldn't play a lick of offense and was purely in the NBA for his defense (Mutombo)?Escobar305 wrote:Philly used the allstar game as the reason for the trade involving Deke. The Philadelphia 76ers have locked in on Evan Turner as the player they'll take with the No. 2 pick in the draft. Most basketball observers think Turner and Andre Iguodala have a similar skill set, which has lead to speculation that Iguodala could be traded at some point.
"If you take Turner, you have to do something with Iguodala," a Western Conference general manager tells The Philly Post. "Turner doesn't have the athletic ability of Iguodala, but Iguodala doesn't have the feel for the game Turner does."
"There's not enough floor space for the two of them," another executive says. The selection of Turner "might lead them to commit to trading Iguodala."
Iguodala still has four years and about $56.5 million remaining on his contract.
Hey, by the way who's Curt?

I wonder what Philly could get in return for Iggy... They certainly have to blow that shit up. They're a disaster. Has anyone heard anything if their future plans include one of/or both Holliday, Lou?keL wrote:The Philadelphia 76ers have locked in on Evan Turner as the player they'll take with the No.

Yep, they played so well together they had to make the trade. The allstar game confirmed that they played well together.Positive A wrote:So you're saying the Phliadelphia 76ers used the all star game to gauge whether their superstar (Allen Iverson), could co exist and mesh well with a guy who couldn't play a lick of offense and was purely in the NBA for his defense (Mutombo)?Escobar305 wrote:Philly used the allstar game as the reason for the trade involving Deke.
The only way it works is if Wade takes the 2nd banana role.

i was thinking the same thing, Iggy was on the block last year at the trade deadline. 4 years, $56 million is a buttload of money for a guy who at best is a team's #2. if I was a GM i would target rudy gay before iggyPositive A wrote:I wonder what Philly could get in return for Iggy... I dont think so either. The game is played different, has different rules, and there is supposed to be a general understanding this a team full of superstars so we need to play together for a SHORT amount of time and get it down for USA. When it comes to NBA ego's are turned back and game is more individual then team.Gilbert Subpoenas wrote:How about redeem team?naturalborn103 wrote:Escobar305 wrote:Yes, I believe, they would work well together. UPDATE: The Sacramento Bee examines the potential fit of Greg Monroe with the Sacramento Kings, and notes that a lot of Monroe's strengths are comparable to those of Spencer Hawes, the guy the Kings just shipped out of town. It could be that Sacramento will draft Monroe as Hawes' replacement.
---
From The Sacramento Bee:
"The Kings will take a second look at two of the top big men available in this year's NBA draft. Georgetown sophomore Greg Monroe and Marshall freshman Hassan Whiteside will return to Sacramento on Saturday for a second round of workouts for the Kings. ... Saturday's workout will be in a group setting, with the other invitees yet to be announced. Monroe and Whiteside are the first players the Kings will bring back for a second workout."

Miller looking for winner

Mike Miller | Wizards

Speaking to the Argus Leader, Mike Miller had this to say about his impending free agency.
"I'm looking for a winner," he told the paper. "The last couple of years have taken a toll on me, as far as not being in the playoffs and not playing this time of year. So I'm looking to change that. This time, if it doesn't work out, there's no one to blame but myself."
Reading between the lines here, Miller doesn't seem like a guy that wants to come back to play for the Washington Wizards next season -- even if they land John Wall in the draft on Thursday.
So where might Miller be able to hook on with a winner?
Well, he does happen to be friends with LeBron James. So if James ends up in Chicago, it's possible the Bulls could sign Miller, as they're in need of a shooter on the roster.
Depending on how free agency shakes out for the Knicks, Miller could be in the mix there. The Heat and Clippers have money to spend and also have rosters that could be playoff-bound next season.

Strange summer for the Wolves
Minnesota Timberwolves
Top Email
The Wolves are a young team with some talented players in Al Jefferson, Kevin Love, Jonny Flynn and Corey Brewer. They also own the draft rights to Ricky Rubio and Nikola Pekovic, who will probably come over to the NBA after next season.
Wolves general manager David Kahn has a lot of options and tough choices to make beginning Thursday with the draft as he owns the No. 4, No. 16 and No. 23 picks in the first round. The team is slated to have a good amount of money under the salary cap and they can just use those three picks and free agent dollars to improve the club or he might use them in the trading of either Jefferson or Love to bring in a major talent.
"This is a weird year nobody has confronted before," Kahn told the Star Tribune. "We need to get our arms around how this particular summer will play after the music stops and all the chairs are filled. It's going to be a strange summer that will feel like it will never end."
Hey, by the way who's Curt?
