Over the years, DJ Premier and Pete Rock have become two of the most critically acclaimed producers within the scope of Hip Hop. In fact, many would say they are two of the most influential icons of production in the genre after crafting work for years with various artists including Nas, CL Smooth and Guru, among others. Now, it seems the two will join forces to create an album together.
The news comes from Pete Rock's Twitter account, with no finalized date set.
"also premeire and PR are making an album together,u heard right!!! Pete Rock Vs. Premeire! Hip Hop @ its best!! OOOHHH BOY!! I'm goin in!!"
DX will have more on this as it develops.

Word. That's what I'm saying! Hope it ain't the case. But PR and Premo promote some whack artists and I wouldn't be surprised if these whack artists had a strong presence on the record. That is, if it even drops.
Also, this shit would've been a hell of a lot more exciting in '95.
Will this be before the Nas/Primo album or after Primo's album on Terror Squad Records?

Bong. SS was dope. But that was 12 years ago. The second one was meh.Huldrich Bullsh!t wrote:who are these wack mcs Pete Rock works with? imo Pete has a habit of working with great rappers in general. Premo is another story but looking at all Soul survivors and the stuff on Petestrumentals with the UN i can't complain
But NY's Finest was weak. That also happens to be his latest solo effort, so....
I mean, look at the line up on NY's Finest and compare it to either SS. Then actually listen to it and realize that it's even worse than it looks!

I think I just got a boner...
I agree with the posts above, though. It would have been better as an instrumental album from 1995. It will probably feature an eclectic and weak guest lineup like Jim Jones, Trey Songs, Talib Kweli, Justin Beaver, Q Tip, CL Smooth, Kanye West, some female singers, and Ludacris or something like that if it ever does drop.

rap is full of pessimists.
Dr. Dre doesn't NEED to put out Detox.
Raekwon NEEDED to put out Cuban Linx 2, whether it took him over a decade or not.
Pete Rock and Premier kinda need to do this. Sure, they don't money-wise, but they need to do something like this more than some other people and some other promises.
have hope

I don't get it. Are they actually working together or they're each just contributing five songs and putting them all on one album for promotional purposes?
If the latter:
A new Pete Rock EP: I don't really care
A new Primo EP: I don't really care
A new Pete Rock EP and a new Primo EP conveniently put together in the same upload so I don't have to download each separately: I don't really care.

I heard that DJ Premier album was made but it is in the vaults and it wasn't a Hip Hop album, in fact it had Preem producing a track for Aretha Franklin and the guy I heard it from knows Preem in person, so I think it's true.step one wrote: Will this be before the Nas/Primo album or after Primo's album on Terror Squad Records?

Kurupt full length over Pete Rock could have been incredible. and i wouldnt be mad at the other combo eitherComedy Quaddafi wrote:PR never finished a bunch of his promised projects either. I remember hearing he was gonna produce a full cd for both Dogg Pound and Smiff-n-Wessun, both times from the man himself in interviews.
