They're beat tapes... my copy is mad scratched up though. The What Up Doe tape features the original beat for "Stakes Is High" which is petty dope.ICantStandYous wrote:whats that tape about? Beat tape?
I have a bunch of other tapes too from Madlib, Nottz, Flying Lotus, Dilla, Kankick and I had a Oh No tape that I can't seem to find right now.

Oh, and whoever sent me a PM please just ask me here cause I don't have a high enough post count to view my PM's. Sorry.
or the steroid boosters
Merged.
Thanks for the link.
well that's some pretty historic shit, then. I remember either reading or seeing an interview with Pos saying that he was listening to this beat tape with Q-Tip and was trying to hide his excitement when the Stakes Is High beat came on cause he didn't want Tip to take it. Q-Tip wound up saying something about the filtered out samples getting old at the time and Pos agreed and then took the beat and that's that.DJ Primate wrote:They're beat tapes... my copy is mad scratched up though. There's the Dillanthologies, the J Dilla Anthologies, and the Soulful Genius Volumes (These are usually floating around in Soulseek)Versive wrote:Dude was the definition of prolific.
Is there an official Definitive Dilla box set out there or even a 10 volume mix ala MF Doom's Herbs & Spices 0-9 Collection?
Hope that helps.
Thanks, I knew about this best of stuff. I'm saying Dilla's estate needs to compile all of his beat tapes into one release. There are so many that a box set would probably be the best bet. People would go nuts for that.DJ Primate wrote:There's the Dillanthologies, the J Dilla Anthologies, and the Soulful Genius Volumes (These are usually floating around in Soulseek)Versive wrote:Dude was the definition of prolific.

I didn't know SoulSeek was still operational. Haven't used that in like 5 years, gonna have to check it out.
