Monsters here:
http://fraykerbreaks.blogspot.com/ <---- These cats put together soundtracks that never existed and much more. How they exactly do each one, I'm not positive.
http://my.opera.com/moogsensations/blog/ <---- Maaad obscure but always dope, from foreign soundtracks to anything great and unknown. Sample paradise.
http://neverenoughrhodes.blogspot.com/ <----Speaks for itself. I don't think there can ever be enough Rhodes either.
http://nlgbbbblth.blogspot.com/ <----Spiral blog, focus on all the different interpretations and rare pressings of "Hair" soundtracks plus the ill unknown cover songs and albums, ridiculousness here. Not every song on every LP they post is a jewel, but it's worth chewing through the fat.pause.
http://mps-love.blogspot.com/ <---- Thanks to RBG for reminding us of this monster blog. It basically celebrates the MPS label, lists the records, and gets as many links up as possible of said MPS records.

 I just edited my last post so we have all the blogs in one place here.

I would suggest to any and everybody to get google reader and subscribe to all of these or at least the really great ones you like. Because the way that blogger has been killing blogs, some of these will most definitely disappear soon, too. But at least if you have subscribed to it on google reader, you can still always access their archives/old posts, which between all these blogs here, is enough to last a lifetime, real talk.

Verge/ or anyone:

Do you know of any blogs or sites that concentrate on cassette sourced material, even as far back as 8 track stuff

Someone told me he 'd found a tape rip site with shed-loads of Funk and Soul and Hip-Hop tape alblums on there, sadly Ive had no joy as yet in my searchin

yeah i never heard of anybody specializing in cassette rips for anything other than old rap or punk/hardcore. most funk/soul blogs make a point of pride on ripping from og vinyl if anything.

Cheers Drizzle,

The sibilance of certain production cassettes [retail versions] by artists like Lord Finesse eg, just sound like we want them to. Heavy low-end, yet crisp and balanced, so that every syllable is crystal clear

There's a very specific tone and acoustic to these old things. I started carryin an old Walkman around recently, and I gotta be honest, on SOME tapes, it makes such a difference in phonics

The 2nd Finesse alblum sounds like monkey supper, its just too good, as is Runaway Slave, as are a heap of old finished retail tapes [as opposed to mixtapes/ blanks et cet] - Yet listening to All City Metropolis Gold is painful, it sounds like doo-doo after a minute in the microwave

What I want to do is find if there are any tape only Hip-Hop blogs/ sites, and cos there are so few of them, rip stuff that hasnt been ripped, continuing on with the progression of digitizing things that simply sound good, as opposed to just plugging a completist hole in the archives

I might even start a tape only blog, anyway, thanks for the help

^Gotta be a 12" disco single and I've sadly/regretfully never actually got into diggin through those type records. There's so many remix/edits with extended drum breaks and alternate versions on them 12" disco (or whatever) singles.. Like that 12" of Bob James' "Take Me To The Mardi Gras" that apparently nobody has except for Biz Markie. I had it on a tape of an Underground Railroad show that Biz Mark guest spun at, not sure if I still have it but it wasn't the full version anyways and he/they talked over parts of it.

Sorry, kotep, I don't have that Galt record or even a rip of it. Let me know if it ever turns up and I'll let you know, too.

Racquetball

If In Our Lifetime is a favoured alblum, you NEED that Deluxe version of it, big time, so many variations and versions on the double CD. The full title is, In Our Lifetime: Expanded Love Man Edition, it was a crazy limited release. Great back-story to it too
