Being an old man, I chose "Step in the arena".
I know this is a wildly unpopular opinion but I never really liked "Mass Appeal".

DWYCK. I don't think I've ever heard a record like that in my whole time of listening to hip hop. Very unique. It was either that track or Mass Appeal.

You Know My Steez
It's not really from their most classic era but that beat is an all-time favorite. Da da dada, da daaaaa, forever stuck in my head.
Whether to Jason of Philaflava or John Podesta, I will speak my fucking perspective openly

It was between Code of the Streets and Above The Clouds to me.
Went with the Code.
Royalty would make my top 10 gangstarr songs.

Code of the Streets but Mass Appeal was a close second.

I know, I know. I just always thought the beat was kind of annoying and repetitive.

Above the Clouds
You Know My Steez is a close close second.

From that list there are about 4 songs that really stand out, went with Code.

Yeah, same here, but I went with Above the Clouds. Both beats are great, Guru is dope on both, but Deck puts Above the Clouds over the top.

Above the Clouds. Probably a top 5 beat for me, and Deck just kills shit. Plus, Guru is better lyrics-wise than a lot of other GS tracks.

I would've voted Positivity had it made the list though

I actually agree with this. Dont think the song is horrible by any means, but compared to DWYCK and Code of the Streets its just not as good in my opinion.
Voted Code of the Streets. That Monk Higgins sample is perfect and Guru kills it.
DWYCK is an ultra close second, how can you not love Greg Nice on that joint?

My favorite Gang Starr track is "Jazz Thing," but I went with "Code of the Streets" which is probably a close second for me. Also, I'd say "Manifest" and a bunch of other songs off No More Mr. Nice Guy are kinda under-appreciated in comparison to the acclaim Hard to Earn gets. But that's no knock on Hard to Earn.

Take It Personal- It's the track that really got me hooked on Primo. It might sound dated compared to some of the others...but those Drums hit so fuckin hard and its got just a simple piano loop in that Raw lo-fi sound.

Also the "You Know My Steez" rmx with Kurupt and Rage might be my favorite not on the list, and definitely tops the original.
