I remember hearing this and being like . Not only was Nas throwing his lot in with a score of other corny-ass "who killed da kultcha?" rappers but he was kicking rhymes like Dick Tracy with a cold. Easily one of the worst rap songs I've ever heard.
Yeah. Re-listening to this. Wow. The LOLs are uncontrollable.
if you listen real close to the intro on da bridge 2001 you can hear nas practicing his dick tracey voice
Nas - Who Killed It was my shit...very weird song, i'd like to know what he was smoking when he put that together..always reminds me of the Jewish guy in Coming to American "AHHH HAAAAAAAA"
Ass Like That is one of the most annoying songs ever, but the lyrics of the song were funny when i first heard it...i just cant rep doing Triumph impressions for so long on a track and that entire album was Triumph impressions
kinda ashamed of myself for even knowing this exists
The scenario that brought this into existence is one of life most intriguing mysteries.
Allegedly:

The backstory on that collab is actually fairly well known. M.O.P. was recording cameos on Industry Shakedown in the same studio as LFO was recording that Abercrombie song back in like '98. Fizzy supposedly had to go to the bathroom after drinking a glass of Hennessey that Bumpy had ashed his garcia vega in caused his bowels to react negatively to the Golden Krust he had for lunch. Anyway, Fame walked past the room LFO was recording in on the way back and saw these clowns trying to "cypher" over some bullshit pop beat. He goes back into the studio and falls out laughing, describing the story to Foxxx & Danz. Billy's immediate reaction is to rob them, but Foxxx (knowing that LFO, having not hit the big time yet, will be of more used to them if they can extort them for some of that major label money) suggests extorting them instead.
Long story short - Danz and Fame pulled out guns on LFO in the studio, Bumpy plays "good cop" and breaks it up, and then suggests to LFO that in order to boost their street cred they need to put M.O.P. on their album. Danz and Fame get fat checks from the label for the collabo, and Freddie takes a cut for brokering the deal.

actually I got sent a song back in the day with him and Redrum and they spit some good punchlines, like a copywrite type song when he was still spitting good punchlines.
Oochie Wally was a good club song. Girls used to love that shit. Worst radio version EVER though.
at Nas getting so many mentions in this thread though. I dont think theres another rapper out that goes from one extreme (certified classic) to the other (total abortions) as much as he does. At least he seems to have stopped trying to make commercial/radio friendly singles these days.
