Can anybody ID the instrumental tracks that Stretch played during the Krunchtime section of this show? Particularly, the 1st instrumental right after the Artifacts & the instrumental at 52:00 (2nd file) where Reef starts to rhyme. Ive never heard these & i'm

actually, nevermind, they say it's 98 on it a few times but it is definitely a show with stretch as they address him in it. Anyone have a date on this show? Would love to hear the whole thing.

Only Stretch & Bob have tapes from this period but I would venture to guess they themselves don't have many.

The A-Side has the Radio Edit & the Dirty version of "You Gotta Go Down" and the B-Side is a couple of Doo Wop freestyles. I picked it up new (and fairly cheap if I recall) back in '02-'03. There's a little sticker on the sleeve that says "Made In England" so I'm guessing it's a UK pressing.

Yeah the Fat Beats Tape. It sucks they sold this tape in 90min form and didnt just tape the whole show.

True, but one wonders if Stretch or Bob had the presence of mind to record their own show (esp. the 1st one), wouldn't couldn't shouldn't they have done it??? At least asked their friends to tune in and tape it...

i think if they did it would of been out there already right?

plus if you notice. in almost every show Bob mentions pausing and changing his tape. he obviously recorded it all. BUT....

he always paused it for interviews and freestyles

I used to run in to Bob, alot downtown, around Fat Beats or in the actually store. Cool dude. Its a shame the city has changed and you dont see much people since the scene is different.

I got another show coming probably tomorrow, but just wanted to add on to the subject of taping entire shows. What's that old saying? "If I only knew then what I know now"? I know when I used to tape Marley and Red back in the day I would just tape the parts I didn't have. So that could mean songs, freestyles, interviews, promos, etc, but I didn't want to tape songs that I already had on vinyl. Back then I viewed it as a waste of taping. Bob used to just record the freestyles/interviews and some of the music to fill up a 90 minute tape. I don't think people ever view it as a part of history while it's actually happening...unfortunately. So now here we are a decades later trying to put the pieces of the puzzle back together again. And of course now I record everything I ever do (for the most part) so that I have it archived years later.

hindsight is 20/20. what also kills me is that when I did record important things, there was always something more important - or so i thought - to record over those recordings. hey, tapes weren't cheap.

u aint lying on that one, if i lived in NY back in those days i woulda have recorded all the shows i could.

but one regret i have is that i should have recorded every show of Yo! MTV Raps & Rap City back in the late 90's. im still kickin myself over that one.

but like we said the early tapes of S&B will surface and i will find someone out there that owns madd VHS tapes of Yo! & Rap City.

At one point, i had seen every episode of rap city - without fail - for a period of about two years straight -94 to late 96. I had -keyword is had- recordings of all videos played during that time span and pretty much most of the top tens they'd run on saturday mornings. To be honest, there was a lot of repeats of videos. But there'd be interesting interviews from time to time. Would love to find recordings of the interviews, though, since most of those music videos are easily available on youtube nowadays.

I used to have the Rap City episode w/ S&B on VHS for years.... then one day decided to record over it w/ some p0rn & the rest is history.

I can still remember parts of the show where S&B say they love CoFlow, NE & have Organized Konfusion's 'Numbers' mixing in w/ NoID's 'Jump On It' in the background. The X-Men, A-Trak & Organized Konfusion were guests

Of course that's right, I just like to shift blame. Radio was the only source for free music and that's how it was done. New joint? Record. Got the next joint already? Save precious space. Pause. Regret taping what you just recorded? Save precious space. Rewind and tape over it.

At the very least, this whole project has given us one more nerdy obsession.

While we're on the subject of "wastes of taping", this has gotta be one of the dullest show starts ever (thru no fault of their own). 30 minutes dealing w/ technical difficulties resulted in the kind of idle chatter done only to fill up dead air. Two records were played (Co Flowגs Population Control & Mr. Liveגs Supa Dupa) but otherwise itגs mostly one big yaaaawwwwn. The rest of the show is butta so for that reason I separated it into three parts: the first half hour, then the actual show. Heads can listen to the intro once, then skip it upon repeated listenings.

Peops here should check the s&b blog for dates. Most dates that are listed have a posted show to go with it. Only the 92 show is unaccounted for altho if the guest is Onyx then Brandan Evans supplied that one.

The only whole shows are the two May 97 ones. The rest are partial shows.

^Good job, Nes. I guess we're behind on the tracklistings. The missing joint is Triip- Keep It Flowin, but different from the Ecko tape. Obviously it's off a 12" but seems like it was a promo for dj's only.

btw, that Valentine's Day special was hotness! And I'm only just getting to the rest of the 7/27/95 show. Good looks for bringing us the missing NE freestyle.

Yeah, it is. "80 Proof Rhymes". The El-Fudge joint is a promo for the station and I'm guessing the Scienz Of Life is the demo for Non Ether and I'm not sure if it's really different from what's on the Fondle 'Em.
