Your opinion on Redman's discography notwithstanding, this is sheer hyperbole since we will have no idea of OFWGKTA replay value until hopefully...some point beyond now.
Nothing wrong with hyperbole though, do your thing.

hmmm an album of 10 tracks, i wonder if there has ever been one like that that nobody ever had a problem counting as a long player
i wonder if i'm forgetting one
probably a really really really obvious one that's also 10 tracks
is the sarcasm coming through thick enough here?

I have my issues with that "album" too but what I am talking about is running length and overall running time of album dedicated to actual music/songs.drizzle wrote:hmmm an album of 10 tracks, i wonder if there has ever been one like that that nobody ever had a problem counting as a long player

Feel free to disagree but for me 25 minutes of total running time is not an album, especially if it contains numerous skits. I can understand a different perspective but how exactly is this a wild claim.
That other "album" is 40 minutes long.
I love the Earl record but when he drops a real album it will be his first, for me. I look at this record as an EP.

we'll have to agree to disagree there because to me an album is more about what it does than how long it takes, and earl's accomplishes more in 25 mins than most do in an hour +

Taking that to it's logical extension, an album could be 5, 8, 10 minutes long.drizzle wrote:we'll have to agree to disagree there because to me an album is more about what it does than how long it takes, and earl's accomplishes more in 25 mins than most do in an hour +
That's fine, I just agree to disagree because at that point the term EP would lose all meaning, as would defnitions like song and album...at least for me.
We both appreciate Earl's record, clearly. I just do not think of it as an album and see no reason why I would need to see it that way, instead of as an EP. EP being a term that would seem tailor made to describe that particular record.

What if I told you that Earl lived in Williamsburg and was considering doing a Long Player (no homo) with El-P?COOLEHMAGAZINE wrote:Earl doesn't even have an album.Thun wrote:Actually, I'm one of Waka Flocka's most vocal supporters. His verse on "Splattitorium" is definitely cringeworthy. That track should have been an outtake, but they probably had their hearts set on including a follow-up to "Pack The Pipe".Blockhead wrote:I dunno. Goodfellas is pretty great, though. At least, it's a dope album to play while driving at night and I'm pretty sure that's all they were aiming for. Runaway Slaves is their masterpiece, though, it's a hugely ambitious and ultimately very satisfying listen.

@ fatboybrandon: yep that's where I originally got it from a few years back and have used that name online since
This pretty much sums it up for me. It's amazing to me how dope both albums are, but for completely different reasons. Runaway Slave is easily better overall, but Goodfellas definitely captures that blunted, late-night, '95 vibeThun wrote:Yeah, it's not even close.Blockhead wrote:Runaway slave>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Doc_Holliday wrote: EDIT: Thoughts on Runaway Slave vs Goodfellas?
