Two best albums of that year I remember vividly:
The Chronic and Reel To Reel.

Haha all good, I just did a Google search for EPMD 1991 The Source and got that image, thanks b.pradadon wrote:It would be hard for me to chose any over The Low End Theory.
BTW, that's my magazine lol. I forgot I had sent that to Vincent Lopez for the blog. My boy wrote soul and scribbled in pen on the cover - I was like how did he get that? lol

it's not in any top spot, this is just a list of what I think were the best album releases in 1991, Sylk Smoov was hardly a top album was it?Huldrich Bullsh!t wrote:i think its not bad, but nowhere near the top spotclark bent wrote:hazardous isnt even good much less one of the best from an all time great year
Lol, yeah i think people usually throw some backlash at that album because so many hold(ll) Don in such high regards.Jaz wrote:it's not in any top spot, this is just a list of what I think were the best album releases in 1991, Sylk Smoov was hardly a top album was it?Huldrich Bullsh!t wrote:i think its not bad, but nowhere near the top spotclark bent wrote:hazardous isnt even good much less one of the best from an all time great year
I think Hazardous is a pretty boring album personally, I don't like it, but I could see how other people may like the faster paced style of it. I became a big Don stan probably around 94 and went back to peep Hazardous then and was crazy disappointed.
Anyways, I was just bumping the Two Kings In A Cypher joint last night. That first verse on Movin On 'Em is classic:

Too many great albums, and albums with some good to great stuff, to really choose. Thanks for doing threads like these Jaz, they get me back to going through stuff i forgot about. Even got me to go through the Casual and Saafir albums which i completely overlooked due to coastal bias back in the day.

It's not a classic album but I do think it's a good album, no problem Verge and yeah that TKO remix is dope.Verge wrote:Lol, yeah i think people usually throw some backlash at that album because so many hold(ll) Don in such high regards.Jaz wrote:it's not in any top spot, this is just a list of what I think were the best album releases in 1991, Sylk Smoov was hardly a top album was it?Huldrich Bullsh!t wrote:i think its not bad, but nowhere near the top spotclark bent wrote:hazardous isnt even good much less one of the best from an all time great year

yeah i know alot of people especially on here think that. i can't even disagree when you are saying that they stand out. tehy both do have distinctive styles. - just not styles im all over like some other people. can't point my finger on it though. can say this much - overall their albums and singles from that mid/late nineties era aren't something i go back to often.Thun wrote:Pretty average? I'd say they stand out from the herd in a lot of important ways.
