This is an edited down version of one of my early demos, recorded around '92 from a project called L.O.C. aka Lyrics of Consciousness. its called cops ain't shit. i'm sorting through lots of old music right now which i will probably compile and release, i think this is the first "political" music i recorded. This photo is one of my first performances, where oddly enough I'm rapping w/ Robin S performing a one time edition of "show me love."
This fucker doesn't even know when he recorded his own material. He jacked a Yo Yo song released in '93, so there's no way this was recorded one year earlier.
another deep puddle album? it'll never happen again. i put it like this, i read this milan kundera piece about circles, basically being when you leave a circle it closes, and you can never re enter it. we all left that circle, there is no re-entering it. if we did it again, it could never live up to the magic that happened the first time, we were young, dumb and full of curiosity about music and its possibilities... that was the beginning of something there, and you can't re-create something like that just for nostalgia.
this song is available exclusively to people who kickstarted my new album. egadz recently released his satellites project... check it out!!! to get this song and the rest of the EP of unreleased music hit the kickstarter: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/161 ... sts/276938
i just assume that everyone here follows me on facebook and twitter so i pretty much refrain from posting promo shit here... but this is a special occasion! my new album, "a ruthless criticism of everything existing" is done! i am looking at a mid october digital release and an early november physical release. might even be in stores in october. the album is 13 tracks. thanks to kickstarter i was able to mix it a very fancy studio... colorado sound... where we mixed hello cruel world, although i refrained from making this sound as airbrush polished as the last one....
produced by : skyrider, factor, ausker, busdriver, ecid, leif kolt, man mantis, ryan hemsworth, real magic, alias, spencer from cobraconda, guest vocals: open mike eagle, greencarpetedstairs, real magic, william ryan fritch
so far the only person who has heard it is my wife, and she says its awesome, lives up to its album title, isn't going to appeal to anyone who doesn't agree with me. she said if the point of the album was to convey this radical critical viewpoint i succeeded. she stopped the album during the busdriver song and just gave me the "wtf, really dude?" it goes... "i saw adorno on a laptop, he told me i should quit, he said only a comet could change the world at this point... besides modern music is a biproduct of the capitalist production sphere... so by picking up those tools its like shoveling shovels with shovels...." point being, this album is dense, and is the closest i have come to putting political essays into rap form. thats not to say they are not songs, catchy, or light melodic sarcastic moments... cuz this album has more humor in it then anything i've done... the point of the album is to inspire people to action and to act as a sort of diary for the trauma and excitement of the last year.... unlike anything i've done... this album imagines a future that isn't mad max inspired...! its also got more basic hip hop shit talky kinda moments as well... kind of mc kinda shit... taking it back! anyway i shoot the video for the pedestrian written "assad is dead" next week.... aweyeah
