best/favourite Redman album
dont think this has been done and Im bored at work so...
Apparently he dropped a couple of others in the last few years but I dont know anyone that heard em. Im guessing decent/standard raps with sub par beats but if Im missing out let me know.
Feel free to rep the Def Squad and Red & Meth albums and obviously post any non album/rare shit if you feel inclined

Dare Iz A Darkside is my favourite Redman joint, I also think it's his best album too.
Whut and Muddy are both much more accessible albums with, arguably, higher points but Dare just has this amazing, dark blunted vibe throughout that makes the whole album more than the sum of it's parts.
I'm a big fan of the first 3 Redman albums but, for me, I just see Dare as the best bits of Whut mixed with the best bits of Muddy. It's that good.

Dare Iz....
Unquestionably, his illest.
It's much different than anything else. The production on the other joints sound like everything else E does in other joints at the time but, Dare Iz was different. Had the red cassette, bumped that shit till it popped then, copped the cd.

'Doc's Da Name 2000' has my favorite individual Redman moments, solely because I prefer hear Reggie Nobel getting grimey over super-polished late-90s Def Jam beats.
HOWEVER, I think 'Dare iz a Darkside' is his best end-to-end release. It's one of those albums that could only have been made when it did, and Redman just accentuates all of his positives all over it.
My favorite listening experience with him has to be the first time I heard 'Whut? Thee Album' though. One of those stop everything and listen intently to every single word moments.

# 1 = dare iz... (as mentioned - it's all about that dark vibe throughout the whole album)
#2 = muddy waters (agree - the best production)

strange that although alot of people are going with Dare, he didnt perform any tracks off it when I saw him live.
I cant find the link/video but I think he's said thats because he was so fucked during the recording of the album

went with 'Whut' in the end. The 'Tonights Da Nite' beat is an all time favourite of mine.

Voted 'Whut' (which is one of my fave albums period), but the first 3 albums are all excellent and different.
Malpractice was very dull, but I have to say that Red Gone Wild is one of the last major label releases I enjoyed/bought... not without its flaws, but not bland at least.
What I heard of his more recent releases was pretty bad (due to production mainly.)

this is a real hard question, Redman is one of the most consistent emcees of the '90s, and he's also a terrific producer. anyone else noticed how pretty often the Reggie Noble produced joints outshined Erick Sermon's contributions. not at all always of course, but a good example is "Blackout" where Redman had the best beats, and then you got "Dare iz a Darkside" which Red pretty much produced by himself and that's one of his best albums overall..
the chapter on "Whut..." in 'Check the Technique', Red said that Erick Sermon booked studio time and pretty much just left him all by himself in the studio. there he had to learn how to make beats and records all by himself. he co-produced all songs on that LP, but the way that interview was written it made it sound as if Redman actually produced most of that record by himself, with co-production by Sermon.
the most common choice for Reggie's most classic album is probably "Muddy Waters"; an album that I love, but personally i think that "Dare iz a Darkside" is the illest, closely followed by "Whuuut" and then "Waters".. i love "Waters", but i feel that it wouldd have benefitted from switching up the type of beats a little considering its length imo. those three are undoubtedly classic LPs though, but i gotta say that the rest of Red's discography is ILL SHIT for the most part. "Doc's Da Name 2000" was a step down from previous joints but it's still a dope album, that's a great representation of NY hip-hop in 1998 imo.
"Malpractice" i have only heard one time since it's the only Red album i don't have in the collection, but i remember not being very impressed with it. "Red Gone Wild" on the other hand, is a ridiciously underrated album though - one of the best albums of the year, there's a few weak tracks but overall it's a real heater. the only downside is that the slamming Buckwild production "Let's Go" was left off all but the Japanese retail.

on a side note, i really love "Blackout" with Red N Meth and with the exception of a few clunkers i feel that "Blackout! 2" was most definitely a worthy sequel.
anyone remember the Redman album from last year though, "REGGIE"?`i try my best to forget about that album, that might have been the wackest album by a great artist ever released. "Nastradamus" is a masterpiece compared to that piece of shit, my god!
