The Game - Jesus Piece
I didn't see a thread about this. I thought the R.E.D. Album was total trash and didn't have hope that this would be much better, but it is definitely better. Yes it's still The Game and he still finds a way to mention the murders of Biggie and Pac wayyy too many times for an album dropping in 2012, but the production is back to being more consistent, the guest spots are pretty strong on the whole and there's enough of them that you only have to listen to a couple entirely solo Game tracks. Also his lyrics actually aren't as bad as I remember them being in the past and he plays around with his flow a little bit (:pause:)
Anyway, not an album of the year contender or anything, but much better than I expected from him at this point.

DL'd yesterday, but I've only heard a few tracks so far.
Consensus on other boards is that the beats are outstanding.
I don't find that hard to believe, but is that the case, b?

Re: The Game - Jesus Piece
All slandering aside, R.E.D. Album had some good tracks. "The City", "Martians vs Goblins", "Ricky" and "Born In The Trap" still get spins over here.
For this next one I'll take great beats, good rappin' and a few tracks to still play in 2022... ONCE AGAIN.... Shouldn't surprise anyone, that's been The Game m.o. since 2005

Re: The Game - Jesus Piece
Is anyone getting pissed off by the "deluxe version" shit? I would cop this, but there seem to be lots of versions around. Standard version, deluxe version, iTunes version, and Best Buy exclusive version... each of which have a few differences. And I don't even see which version has the Dre produced bonus track listed above. Just let me buy the fucking CD and give me all the tracks.
Re: The Game - Jesus Piece
how has no one mentioned the fact that game was stealing the flows of his features throughout this album
case in point the song with j.cole
shit is status and i can never listen to this album again because of that

He always has a few entertaining songs but nothing he has made post G-Unit/Dre has really had any replay value. At least if I heard Cruzin' I'd let it ride.

Re: The Game - Jesus Piece
I'll listen this weekend. I honestly can't see it having much replay value though, as folks above me have opined.
Game has always had good taste in beats (pretty much the sole reason why I've checked any post-Documentary output) but his rapping is pretty much laughable every time out.

Re: The Game - Jesus Piece
As to rapping like his features, yeah I noticed it definitely on a few tracks. It's honestly better than him rapping like himself and probably one of the reasons I like it more.
Yeah, I'd say the beats are pretty outstanding. Will it have replay value? Eh, I doubt it'll have much, although there's at least a couple songs on here good enough that I'll definitely keep them in teh mix for a while. Honestly I was just surprised. I liked a couple songs off The R.E.D. Album, but in general I thought it was really weak, and pretty much thought he was done at this point. So it's just a pleasant surprise to me.
And yes, I think the deluxe shit is getting out of control. If you want to change people more for a few more songs, fine, but put them all in one place so a person can buy/steal one album.

Re: The Game - Jesus Piece
What a joke this ended up being.
The skit after the meaninglessly grandiose 'Ali Bomaye' is possibly THEE most ignorant ass skit I have heard in years upon years. It crystallizes the absolute coonery of The Game and the tokenism of his concept for this album.
@ the Kanye-West sounding production on 'Name Me King' with the subliminal jab to Jay-Z, featuring Pusha T. Lame.
a few of the beats sound like The Weeknd and Drake (like the Kendrick Lamar song), all low key and moody and creepy. the biting doesn't stop.
his confusion about what is important in religion is abominable, and the usurping of his guest's status for his own petty means is shallow beyond belief.
that being said: he also fucked up by not putting 'HVN 4 GNGSTA' on this, and 'Holy Water' instead of some other worse song (there are many to choose from), because those songs were better than a lot of what made it. 'Celebration' is an atrocity and I don't know why Bone Thugs would let that slide. the J. Cole song does nothing for me. I haven't heard a few more songs off this, but my expectations are not that high.
He sounds like him cameos on most of the tracks here and it's fucking
The Game is a Frankenstein Gangsta built by the corporate executives working at Interscope Records.
rap is outta control.

Re: The Game - Jesus Piece
He did the blatant J.Cole flow already on the last album, on "All The Way Gone". Even ends with the words "cold world" Must have been a rejected reference track or something...
Kinda underwhelmed by the album on a fast listen. Too bad.

His interview on Howard Stern today > this album
Re: The Game - Jesus Piece
Ya that Stern interview was fantastic.
Re: The Game - Jesus Piece
While I haven't heard this and likely won't, my friend is trying to tell me this is a contender for album of the year.

I like it. Grooves all over the place.
Re: The Game - Jesus Piece
He's always talkin about Kendrick Lamar. He likes Big Sean, Kanye, still talks about Jay-Z being relevant. Then he listens to alot of old school R&B. Like 70s stuff.Echo Leader wrote:What, pray tell, are this chap's listening habits?hessbz12 wrote:While I haven't heard this and likely won't, my friend is trying to tell me this is a contender for album of the year.

Probably one of the worst albums to be released this year.
The Game is like a sad used condom that was never filled with love nectar, but instead had to be snapped off and discarded of at the last second.

I hardly thinkin of "grooving music" when I think of the Game.Employee wrote:blastmaster wrote:I like it. Grooves all over the place.

I think the album is pretty much garbage. I like the DJ Premier produced joint, but I can't stand the singing on it and I really don't like Master P's rap... sounds like he's shouting. Wack!
Anyways, here's a great interview which lasted a little over an hour...
