Marley's tracks from World Renown's LP

Post by skater4041 »

I got the World Renown Promo cassette off ebay a couple months ago and just got to recording it. I could upload the whole thing but K-def's released tracks are already in better quality than some of these. Date of the promo is 08/15/1994.

Thanks a lot - you are a good guy...could you also upload the whole tape if possible? Somebody could try to fix some of the purr. (Verge? Vapo?...)

Finally the "World Renown" track in listenable quality.

What about "Don't Trust Your Man"? Same version on the promotape that K-Def released or is it the one thats on the JAP Boot?

no prob, the listing said it belonged to a guy that worked at warner bros, and another promo existed that had an extra track. That track has to be Roll Wit It, based on this:

here's the whole album. The side B tracks don't have the quality that the side A tracks have, and How Nice I Am also is a little off. Kinda sucks but what are ya gonna do haha.

i was going to buy that tape until i asked the person selling it how the quality was like. he said he didn't have a tape deck. then said it was decent quality on tape. then suggested there's software to reduce hiss and increase the quality. so that set off a red flag for me. i think at that point i was thinking it was a dub. suffice it to say, if you have the original wavs you ripped from tape, i can probably get rid of that hum/background noise but would need the parts in between the tracks that you edited out so i can capture the noise print.

HipHopInfinityRIPLOL mentioned cleaning it up so I tried it out and found that the beat really gets lost within the noise sometimes and that clearing the noise really made the tracks sound much better. Here's the 'Mind Over Matter' track. The change is subtle but did wonders for the clarity of the kick/snare in the beat.

This is from .mp3's so it'd sound even better with the right source.

7 Shawn said we can put "Long Jev" as the last track...he also asked me if I could send him the Tape (I sent him nothing)...this was when you upped the JAP Boot and Tape was on for auction...dude said there was Interludes too...

thx again and Marlon needs to do World Renown / Kamakaze like Pete did INI / Deda...

Glad to finally hear these tracks, World Renown always stood out to me even though their time as recording artists was short lived.

Gotta say thanks to Skater4041 for sharing this stuff, much appreciated. Given all the K-Def material coming out lately, surely it's only a matter of time for a proper release of this album?

skater4041: you're the fucking man, i've been wanting to hear this forever, and finally here it is. i think there's like 3 different World Renown promos out there now so i believe all the songs are out there now, but it would be great to have them in full CDQ and with interludes and everything. still, this is fantastic, thanks a lot. this album woul've been so dope had it been released.

i fully agree with Stieflkater, that this should get an official release.. possiblly in a double with the Kamakazee stuff on Disc 2. this stuff neeed to be heard in great quality, back when Marley and K-Def was one of the best production duos of all time (not that they are not still dope as hell, especially K-Def.. i just orered his new LP yesterday).
