Re: Ka - Cold Fact (video)
At first I said no way is this better than Grief despite being really good, but this shit is aging beautifully with each listen. Maybe it isn't better, but dare I say I'm enjoying this more.
Re: Ka - Cold Fact (video)
it definitely gets better after a few listens. GP smacks you in the face more.
Re: Ka - Cold Fact (video)
Like with his other albums, it is difficult to process at first. I have to listen to for two weeks straight while at the gym and then the subtle dopeness reveals itself and I'm all like
If I had a hammer/I'd build a city on stilts
Re: Ka - Cold Fact (video)
agreed. i'd say some of the high points on this album are better than GP but GP is hard to fuck withPhilaflava wrote:At first I said no way is this better than Grief despite being really good, but this shit is aging beautifully with each listen. Its crazy how different his very laid back raps match with those beats. Its like Roc Marciano does the same but smoother. When I listen to this, Ka pretty much sounds completely cold-blooded in what he says.

The 'Peace Ahki' video may be one of my favorite videos of all time hip-hop wise. Its just hammers the chess and combat and sullen nature of the track with great visuals.

Re: Ka - Cold Fact (video)
Great interview. Pretty cool that he works as a fire fighter full time. I wish he did more interviews. I've only seen like 5 or 6 interviews that he's given.
Looking forward to any new verses he has on Marci Beacoup.
Re: Ka - Cold Fact (video)
that was a great interview, and really it sums up everything. no further interviews needed.
Re: Ka - Cold Fact (video)
I'm giving Ka a chance, and through 6 tracks of "Iron Works" I'm getting really frustrated by the fact that every track is basically the same downtempo, low energy, slow paced song. IT's a good song, but it was good the first time.
Do his other albums have more variety/up tempo stuff?

Re: Ka - Cold Fact (video)
i've never listened to iron works. grief pedigree is my favorite.
Re: Ka - Cold Fact (video)
Dids,
You should really start with Grief Pedigree but, from the sound of it, I don't think you'll like it regardless. KA's shit is a slow burn, imo. It's super minimal but the mood he captures is both subtle and original. If you're looking for up tempo. energetic music, he is not the guy.

Re: Ka - Cold Fact (video)
It's not that only want up tempo stuff, it's just that I need some balance and 11 tracks basically at the same BMP doesn't do anything for me.
30 seconds into Grief Pedigree and it's more like it.

I keep thinking of "cold-blooded" when I listen to this album. That really is the best way to describe his style. Man I'm playing the hell out of this album lately though.ardamus wrote:Its crazy how different his very laid back raps match with those beats. Its like Roc Marciano does the same but smoother. Re: Ka - Cold Fact (video)
Night's Gambit is still getting regular rotation. "Cold-blooded" is the perfect way to describe it.
I'm looking forward to listening even more as it gets colder outside. Ka's shit is perfect wintertime music.

I put on both grief pedigree and the new one right before bed regularly, really perfect music for late nights.
Re: Ka - Cold Fact (video)
