Re: Godzilla reboot
So this was really fucking dope. Lots of holy shit moments. If you grew up watching the old ones you'll love this. If you didn't like "monsters" by this director, you may not like this.

Re: Godzilla reboot
See...I thought Pacific rim was godzilla and I was super pumped but then disappointed when it wasn't and while I think Guillermo could've made a better godzilla this one was still cool

Re: Godzilla reboot
Holy cow, this movie was ASS!!!
Too much relationship, hero trying to get back to his family bullshit and not enough about the actual monster. Completely trash. I was honestly ready to walk out with 30 solid minutes left in the movie and I should've because I didn't miss anything. Good acting, completely unexplored premise and horrible pacing. Don't see it.

Christian, your asshole is as big as Gojira's
in other news: watched half of this movie on bootleg last night. it was okay, better than i thought but not super modern classic. so what do you guys want to see in the GO-JIRAAAA!!! sequel, since it's been green-lit?
stating the most obvious thing: it's clearly a superior movie in every way to the Roland Emmerich/Matthew Broderick/Puff Daddy version of Godzilla, so

Re: Godzilla reboot
Hard to disagree with this. Guess I just thought it was more entertaining possibly because I didn't expect very much at all except cool monster scenes which there wasCash Rulz wrote:Holy cow, this movie was ASS!!!

Re: Godzilla reboot
I guess we're doing spoilers now?
There's one interesting human in this movie and he doesn't last long. Could they have used a more generic lead character with a more generic name than Ford Brody? They should've used Nicholas Brody instead, have him working with the MUTOs all along. The special effects, Godzilla himself, his roar, the final battle were all pretty cool but human action figure Brody, his weepy nurse wife and retarded son can go fuck themselves.

Re: Godzilla reboot
i just watched pacific rim on a plane and it occurred to me that no monster movie can surpass this. it's heavy on the monster fights and when they're not fighting monsters they're pacticing bostaff skills / chillin with mad scientists. i've watched the last several failed gojira movies before this and they all fall into the same trap of having gay ass dramatic characters -- the opposite of what we're tryna pay to see (with the exception of godzilla 2000 which semi pulls it off).Cash Rulz wrote:Holy cow, this movie was ASS!!!

Anyone else think Pacific Rim was awful? I felt like I was watching a campy 90s movie that didn't age well.

Pacific Rim was shite. Fluff for Chinese children and likeminded people.
This one looks a lot better though, perhaps worth a download if you have a big TV.

Re: Godzilla reboot
That's it there. Pacific Rim is cookie cutter in regards to premise and characters. In fact, the star and female co-star and semi-antagonist are horrible actors. But you cannot beat the constant fighting that is top shelf CGI. What's messed up is if Godzilla would've switched 30 mins or dumb hero stuff for monster stuff, it would've been 100% better.EMCEE DARTH MALEK wrote:i just watched pacific rim on a plane and it occurred to me that no monster movie can surpass this. it's heavy on the monster fights and when they're not fighting monsters they're pacticing bostaff skills / chillin with mad scientists. i've watched the last several failed gojira movies before this and they all fall into the same trap of having gay ass dramatic characters -- the opposite of what we're tryna pay to see (with the exception of godzilla 2000 which semi pulls it off).Cash Rulz wrote:Holy cow, this movie was ASS!!!
