Album definitely gets better on repeated listens. Definitely a dark album. Nothing near as light-hearted as There He Go. The first half of the album is growing on me. The Blind Threats, Hell of a Night, Break the Bank, Man of the Year sequence is so dope though. Really missing Yay Yay (on the version i have).

Album is pretty garbage. A couple songs are good, but the majority of it is trash. I'll stick to listening to the Isaiah Rashad album
Re: Black Hippy thread (Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, etc.)
I'm feeling about half of this, but there is some trash in the mix too. My friend described it to me as the opposite of the Pusha T album, in that people might've expected some pop shit but it's extremely dark and it starts off wack as fuck but gets better. Thought that was pretty on point. Apologies in advance if anyone here has already made that exact observation.
My biggest gripe is that it sometimes feels like the dude is just growling at me about how he's a drug addict. I'm like, "Alright yo, I understand, maybe chill with that."
Digging the Kurupt, Rae and Suga Free appearances.

The songs that got videos (Collard Greens, Man Of The Year, Break The Bank) really make sense when played in the context of the album, and I enjoy them all even more now.

I dunno, I'm actually not too big on "Man Of The Year," I just feel like I understand it better. I probably like the 2 Chainz track, Prescription/Oxymoron, Hell Of A Night and Grooveline more. I could understand why I might be in the minority on that tho

"The Purge" is horrible, and no serious rapper should ever put Tyler on his album (I know plenty have, but they should stop. He's like the Shawn Wigs to Mindbender's Ghostface at this point). Other than that I have no real complaints other than I wouldn't start an album off with two songs as so-so as the first two on this album. I dig the album though and imagine it will grow on me on repeated listens as I get into the narrative a bit more.

Rarely do I think there's an album where the retail version is clearly inferior to the Itunes deluxe version, but this is a case where I think that argument is pretty easy to make.

Re: Black Hippy thread (Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, etc.)
IMO, the second half of the album (starting at "Blind Threats") is much better than the first half, on repeated listens. Out of the first half, the only song I really dig is "Hoover Street".

Real talk. Two of the worst songs on the album are the first two. Sets a very strange tone for the entire project.B. Ware tha Siniq wrote:I wouldn't start an album off with two songs as so-so as the first two on this album.

I never understood why people criticized his voice until I heard this song.

I'm feelin' this song though because he sounds a lot less Zeldar from Beldar/Lisa Simpson on it.
It's kinda like Suga Free doing Pharrell's Happy but in the style of Digable Planets over the best Isley Bros sample ever.
