Not Marty's best crime drama, but the one the Academy felt he should finally be rewarded for. It was named by Richard Roeper of the Chicago Sun-Times the best film of the 2000s.
I thought the acting was superb, but Winston and Baldwin were my favorites aside from Leo and Jack.
Fun movie with good replay value but kinda slight in the context of Marty as one of the GOAT living directors. I don't really have any attachment to it at all. Calling this the best movie of 2000sis laughable.
In it's defense, the usual 'american remake fucked up a brilliant foreign original' critique doesn't apply here for shit because the original is also flawed in many ways. I don't have any overwhelming love for or attachment to the original either.

Sad takeaway there, ace.
Leo and Damon in the same scene makes me rock hard and uncontrollably fuck my screen. Was that better?

I like it a lot more now than I did before. Don't think it's one of Scorsese's best, and it's not the kind of movie I would rush out and upgrade to blu-ray, but it's definitely a movie I'd watch whenever it's on TV.
I appreciate CQ for the the fact that he make the impossible possible. With every post he continues to get worse and worse. Amazing stuff. Stand up and clap, everyone. Congratulate this specimen.

Great movie. Inasfar as movies - actual film - is like a big canvas for collaborative art to take place I think The Departed really succeeds in every aspect of giving the audience a great production and a great performance. Best movie of 2000s is not a stretch to me. There is so much awesome shit going on and every part of the movie is awesome and really sweet
Even if you think this flick gets too much love, it's getting hated on way too hard in here. You could call it overrated but that doesn't mean it didn't still fucking rule.
saw this the day it came out. thought it was great that day and i think it still holds up. not sure where i'd rank it in scorsese's filmography because it seems to have only lived up to the potential of all the elements involved in terms of the writing, directing, the actors, and the premise. i think its safe to say that if this movie was directed by someone other than marty, as long as the director was technically proficient, the movie still would have been really good.
best movie of the 2000's is a stretch imo but i think its definitely in the top 10 if not 5
