Re: Narcos (Netflix)
very Blow-ish but that's not a bad thing at all, usually means solidly entertaining pop crime

Re: Narcos (Netflix)
very similar to Billy Walsh's Medellin I feel.
Re: Narcos (Netflix)
I watched it. I didn't think it was bad but my perspective was a bit distorted. Mainly because, like most, I received all of my info about the Columbian cartels from cocain Cowboys. This show focuses on the Era that succeeds the cocain cowboy Era which is when Escobar really took over.
My main issue is that the writers politics seem to ooze throughout the show and especially the narration. I hated the narration and didn't like the main character much.
The actor who plays Escobar does a very good job though.
I guess I just don't like the show that much but I couldn't stop watching. That probably has to do the accessibility of Netflix though.

Btw that comment was based on the first half of the season. The first few episodes of The second half are quite good.

Re: Narcos (Netflix)
What do you think the writers' politics are?
I had a similar reaction to the first few episodes but was pleasantly surprised as I continued watching. I still have a few left and I actually think the show does a pretty good job of switching political hats and introducing all sorts of ideas.

Yes I agree with you. In the beginning it seemed a bit too pro-ragan to me.
Re: Narcos (Netflix)
i can't stop thinking how much pablo looks like Ron swanson. It's kinda fucking it up for me.

I'm about 8eps in. Enjoying it overall. The pacing is kind of slow at times, but picks up around the middle of the season as someone else noted.
I really feel like the acting is pretty great all around.
I'm very interested in which parts were added for dramatic effect. The story in and of itself is kinda wild. I really knew not much of anything about this stuff before watching the show.
Best part so far hands down:
Also why does Pecho look like a Hispanic Hans Gruber?

Best shit I watched since Better Call Saul.
Wondering how they'll squeeze a full second season out of the remaining biography, though, without jumping shark.

^Yeah, i was thinking the same thing. How many episodes of Esco walking through the forrest can the possibly have next season without it becoming the walking dead in columbia?
Re: Narcos (Netflix)
If this show didn't have the narration, or better narration, it would be tremendous
Re: Narcos (Netflix)
This show turned out to be really good.
Season 2 in August apparently.
