Really great production, huge influence, but not a classic for me. Rapping wise I think it was a noticeable step down for Jay-Z.

Not picking on Jedi but I was always curious as to why people (and there is a bunch) consider Vol. 3 classic. The bolds are IMO the only decent tracks. Anyone else concur or disagree?

Re: is Jay-Z - The Blueprint, a classic?
Just because the source rated it a classic dont mean it is a classic.
I think its an aight effort. If you can consciously group an album like Illmatic, Enter The Wu-Tang or Low End Theory in that classic category than its blasphemous to throw the Blueprint in there. Just my humble op.

Re: is Jay-Z - The Blueprint, a classic?
Yes, going to listen to that tonight now that you mention it.
1. Reasonable Doubt
2. The Blueprint
3. The Black Album
4. In My Lifetime, Vol. 1
5. American Gangster
I consider Vol.1 overrated. Vol.2 is nearly as good IMO. 5th place is like a three-way tie between AG, V2 and S. Carter Mixtape.

Right, but the overall impact it had on music pretty much does solidify it as a classic. Regardless of how you feel about Kanye, Jus Blaze and the whole chipmunk soul sound, it laid out the blueprint for hip-hop music for years to come. RZA did that production better earlier, KRS-One already did an album called Blueprint, and they both have classics too, but that doesn't change the fact that this album is also a classic.JaH BLaZe wrote:Just because the source rated it a classic dont mean it is a classic.

Same, big fan of "Dope Man", "Snoopy Track", and "S. Carter".

5. "Streets Is Watching" Ski 3:58
6. "Friend or Foe '98" DJ Premier 2:09
7. "Lucky Me" Steven "Stevie J" Jordan for The Hitmen, Buckwild for D.I.T.C. 5:00
8. "(Always Be My) Sunshine" (featuring Foxy Brown & Babyface) Daven "Prestige" Vanderpool for The Hitmen 4:43
9. "Who You Wit II" Ski 4:29
10. "Face Off" (featuring Sauce Money) Poke and Tone for Trackmasters 3:31
11. "Real Niggaz" (featuring Too $hort) Anthony Dent 5:07

Nah Right rank BP tracks
Never Change is one of the weaker tracks on the album IMO but I get it. You don't sound cool unless you list a deep cut.
