most likely... I doubt they'll devote a significant amount of time to it but Stallone is way too sentimental to not at least have a brief aside about it, especially since Rocky's own declining health looks to be a part of the story too.

Not gonna lie I thought this was gonna be fucking garbage. Firstly because it's a spin-off of a franchise that's gotten uninteresting, secondly because I thought the preview showed way too much, which is typically a bad sign.

At least 2 people whose opinions on film I respect say it's a very, very good film though

note i said film instead of movie, which basically makes my take superior to yours

have seen at least 3 Criterion films btw

FIrstly AJ Benza was intolerable in balboa, secondly the fight simulation premise of the plot was corny as fuck, and thirdly Tarver was entirely uninteresting as his opponent. Yea, we all know he is a real boxer, but it was just a boring performance from him acting wise. You're not going to tell me that tarver was better in balboa than morrison was in rocky 5, are you?

The only notable elements about Rocky V were the Mickey flashbacks and Richard Gant's OTT performance as George Washington Duke. The rest was terrible and about as welcome as Stallone's naked ass in the beginning of the film. Rocky Balboa was a faithful return to the original tone of the franchise - not to mention, a nice way to sign off until now.

No i'm going to tell you that RB had real dramatic resonance that directly connected to some of the key themes at the core of the franchise while 5 was a weak attempt to squeeze some more money from a film series which by that point turned from a serious drama to a cartoon. Tarver did lack personality as compared to the previous opponents, but RB wasn't about the juxtapostion of Rocky vs Bad Guy, it was about providing closure for Rocky's character (specifically because 5 failed completely in this regard) and it nailed it.
