Re: 2016-17 NFL Season Thread
This might be the most lacklustre set of "contenders" I think I've ever seen in my years watching the NFL. Usually there are a handful of teams you would say are top tier. Besides the cowboys who else is actually playing like they are great? Any complete teams out there?
Patriots? Defense has been subpar.
Broncos? Qb? Offense?
Vikings? Shitty oline, injuries, sputtering Offense.
Steelers? Annual Big Ben injury
Seahawks? Awful O line, awful on offense.
Raiders? Garbage defense.
Chiefs? No idea from week to week.
In a weird way, these playoffs are going to be amazing by default of everyone being basically on the same level or they will be garbage to watch.

I agree with everything except 2 teams. I dont think the Cowboys are all that great on defense, they don't really have a consistent pass rush. Chiefs are probably the most complete team, they also have Andy Reid which is a good and bad thing.

Why aren't you listing dallas when they have a 2 game lead in their division?an-also wrote:This might be the most lacklustre set of "contenders" I think I've ever seen in my years watching the NFL. Carr said Seth Roberts "went into NFL Street Gamebreaker Mode" on the game winning touchdown last week. He just jumped a bunch a spots in my favorite QB rankings.

The Patriots D is fine and will be fine. If you question that you haven't been paying attention the last 15 yrs. The Seahawks are sputtering on offense, but once Russ (and Tyler Lockett) are 100% (which could be as early as this week) they'll take off.
The Falcons are complete to me with how their pass rush has emerged. Freeney didn't play last night, but he and Vic Beasley have been studs on the edge. The addition of Keanu Neal on the back end gives them a couple studs back there w/ him and Trufant.
I look at the Raiders in a similar light as the Falcons. Their D's are better than the #'s show and their offenses are tremendous and their QB's are killing it in crunchtime.
Also now that the Bengals have Eifert back it changes everything for them. As far as just not having weaknesses, they may have the least. Pacman Jones and AJ are having career years, Dalton has been efficient as fuck and their O should explode down the stretch.

@analso
since the Seahawks went to 2 sb with basically killer D and super shitty oline zone run game everyone has been going for that. like look at cle. they don't give a fuck about oline anymore. the new balanced powers are oakland atl and i would have guess MN at the start of the season. Bengals are balanced but it took them a few years to get their oline together. old powers are pats den kc sea. and really sea doesn't have their shit together anymore on offense and getting scored on last week just smells like a problem to me down the line
@bengi
agreed in re falcons and Raiders. if atl d can continue to play they can go far.
but obv I mean the pats are just major major problem for the rest of the league and to top it off they've been playing great playoff ball for the past few seasons.

The bottom of the hole is always further down than you think. I'm half convinced they are going to go 5-11 because I don't think that has been done before.

The best things Cowboys have going for them:
1. Ridiculous O-line and great blocking. All three Zeke touchdowns dude barely got touched.
2. Dan Bailey. Dude is a monster.

You forgot to mention that Dak is putting together the best rookie QB season since Big Ben's...DLG wrote:The best things Cowboys have going for them:

Re: 2016-17 NFL Season Thread
Cowboys continue to impress, but the two teams that played last night are the best teams on paper at this point. Seahawks are my pick now after how they looked last night. That offense is so much more multi dimensional than it's ever been and that's w/out Thomas Rawls.
Re: 2016-17 NFL Season Thread
I honestly never expected Wilson to be this good. Figured he would be average without a great running attack, but he's definitely balling out and it's a scary offense when he's healthy

The Cowboys should beat the Ravens again this week, who are pretty easily the best defense they've faced this year unless you consider any of the NFC east defenses "good". As great as the Cowboys have looked that's pretty scary when you have a rookie QB that hasn't faced an elite defense at this point in the year.

Of course Luck gets a concussy on a short week coming off the biggest win of the yr. Colts should just forfeit this week so they don't incur any injuries in a guaranteed loss.

I'm just pissed cause it puts a damper on an otherwise great Thanksgiving day slate of games.unclebengi wrote:Of course Luck gets a concussy on a short week coming off the biggest win of the yr. Colts should just forfeit this week so they don't incur any injuries in a guaranteed loss.
