Re: RIP Harry Dean Stanton
rip to the gawd
briefly met the guy at one of my old restaurants
his son was his manager and they were on their way out. they were standing outside the front door waiting for a cab late when no one was around
I usually don't bother the celebrities but I had to say something to the guy
so I go out there and shake his hand and say 'hi I LOVED you in the green mile'
and he says 'oh which one was that....? oh yeah that's the one where may west sits on my face' and I laughed and said yeah I thought he was perfect and he said thanks and then I say I'm sorry I'd didnt mean to interrupt have a good night and he said like 'ok... thanks' and seemed disappointed that we didn't have a longer more fruitful conversation which i would have liked to have but I'm not sure it would've been good service and at that point once you say goodbye it's over

Re: RIP Harry Dean Stanton
I was wondering when this dude would finally bite the dust. He might be top 20 for me. He's dope in pretty much everything, but Repo Man is probably my favorite.

Re: RIP Harry Dean Stanton
Felt inspired to re-read the chapter about Repo Man in Alex Cox's book. Key trivia:
* When Cox rang Stanton's agent to ask if he was free to take the role, she suggested he should use another one of her clients instead. The client was..... Mick Jagger!
* Stanton wanted to wear a fedora for the role of Bud, but Cox had to talk him out of it.
* Stanton could be a pain on the set, but he was in awe of Robby Müller. So whenever Stanton was being difficult, Cox would say "Robby would like to do things this way" and Stanton would be like "for Robby?" and then comply.
* Stanton was the only actor who used a real baseball bat on set because he refused to use a fake plastic one.
