spyware/adware
Everyone has problems with this. Post any spyware/adware related
questions and answers here, as well as websites with programs to
protect against it.

this will have a program called spysweeper. which I thoroughly recommend. It comes with a free demo that you can update by uninstalling and then downloading the newest version. Or you can pay $40.00 for a 2 year subscription.

spybot. free, and updatable.
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
adaware gets rid of adware and is also free.
http://www.nuker.com/
spyware nuker. I wouldn't recommend this one unless you buy the full
version.
feel free to add others.

There's a scumware plague at the moment. All it takes is a visit to a pushy web site or a loaded shareware install and next minute your Internet Explorer homepage has been changed, your default search setting altered, unwanted ads pop up on your screen and worse. SpywareBlaster is not a file scanner like SpyBot but rather a stand-alone inoculation program that prevents the initial infection. It provides active protection against more than 1500 products that use ActiveX based exploits and offers defenses against unwanted cookies as well. A companion program to SpywareBlaster is SpywareGuard. Again, this is not a file scanner like SpyBot. It is a protective program that works like an anti-virus suite by checking programs before they are executed. Both products are well executed, regularly updated and work well with each other and SpyBot.

harddrive, sometimes you can find them on your own, it just takes forever. some spyware you can intentionally download like kazaa and
GAIN and quite a few others.
I'm really pissed off at the moment. Since um about Thursday web pages take an age to load. I can download files at the normal speed but loading web pages pisses me off. I have a 600K connection and I remember 56K being faster than I am now.
Could this be spyware related? I've used ad-aware and none found. I used McAfee and it comes up with something called pskill thats maybe an unintentionally wanted programme but can't delete it. I un-installed my browser and installed it again. Still the same. I delete my temp files every day as a matter of routine so its not that.
This is really starting to piss me off. I don't have time to sit there for three minutes each time a page loads. I'm getting really frustrated here.
Any ideas?

ok, so i have Ad-aware 6.0 and Spy Doctor. I use them both to scan, mostly with the SPy Doctor and it finds 20 something infections. After I clean it out, I do another scan like a couple hours later and I have 20 something infections again. And usually, it's the same infections. There's this toolbar called Elite that installs into my computer, and I keep getting rid of it and it just comes back...
Is there a way to completely get rid of these things?

Just recently in my blog I happened to write a few thing related to this issue. I think they would be helpful to people who have issues with spyware, adware, malware, and other unfriendly wares.
