Not really in the same vein as those, but:
War Is A Force That Gives Us Meaning by Chris Hedges
The Remnants of War by John Mueller
Does Peace Lead to War by Hughes and Seligmann
We wish to inform you that tomorrow we will be killed with our families: Stories from Rwanda by Philip Gourevich
On The Origins of War by Donald Kagan is in my opinon on of the best book ever written on the subject of war.

There is probably a great book for every war. At least one.
-All Quiet on the Western Front is good shit.
-The Shortimers is what Full Metal Jacket is based on and it is the shit.
-The Things They Carried is required reading.
-Black Hawk down is good shit.
-The Killer Angels civil war joint. Great.
-Bloods about the black experience in Vietnam both there and coming home.

Couple more off the top of my head:
-Ron Kovic's Born on the Fourth of July. Yes, the Tom Cruise movie, but it is good.
-Tobias Wolff wrote a couple that are real good. Barrack's Theif is the one I remember right now.
Tim O'Brien who wrote the Things They Carried is pretty good. Going After Cacciato is kind of a trip, but it has some good shit. Lake in the Woods is great, but it is more a mystery/life at home kind of thing.

wolff has also written some of the best short stories i've ever read... i would recommend the night in question over anything else if only because of "bullet in the brain."
