but don't front on smith. dean smith made alot of innovations to the game of basketball. i fail to recognize what innovations coach K made.
innovations don't win championships...coaching doesGregg Popabitch wrote:like i said before. wooden is better then both.reason is yellow wrote:coach k > dean smithpeanut butter wrote:Gregg Popabitch wrote:dean smithreason is yellow wrote:coack k is the gawd

in an era where small schools have no chance of winning anything ever? in the eras dean smiths played, talent was more widespread and small schools had a much higher probability of making the final four because of the fact all the talent wouldn't be hoarded by the same 6-7 schools. i respect college coaches of the 60's, 70's, and 80's infinitely more then i do of any coaches in the 90's.reason is yellow wrote:innovations don't win championships...coaching doesGregg Popabitch wrote:like i said before. wooden is better then both.reason is yellow wrote:coach k > dean smithpeanut butter wrote:Gregg Popabitch wrote: dean smith

your argument is null and void considering that recent climate of college b-ball.Gregg Popabitch wrote:in an era where small schools have no chance of winning anything ever? in the eras dean smiths played, talent was more widespread and small schools had a much higher probability of making the final four because of the fact all the talent wouldn't be hoarded by the same 6-7 schools. i respect college coaches of the 60's, 70's, and 80's infinitely more then i do of any coaches in the 90's.reason is yellow wrote:innovations don't win championships...coaching doesGregg Popabitch wrote:like i said before. wooden is better then both.reason is yellow wrote:coach k > dean smithpeanut butter wrote:

until recently you had to worry about the top players stringing you along then jumping to the NBA and fucking you over completely recruiting wise. even with the new rule in place, coaches still have to recruit lower-tier players just to ensure they will actually stay more than one year and not completely fuck up the recruiting process.
none of the coaches in the other decades had to worry about this and if they did, best believe it would have hurt them a lot too. add in the 10 & 5 rule that's in place now and it fucks current coaches even more.
back in the days, most coaches got time to build a program and do their thing, but now in the days where college sports are big business these guys get 2 years and if they don't have a winning record they're gone.
i'd have to say that being a coach right now is definitely harder than back in the days.

Wow, all that talk about the "right way" to play and Coach K parading shot-up troops in front of the players and Dwyane and 'bron saluting after dunks and having no Iverson to make a statement and....
US is still playing for the bronze.
I call it, curse of teh Gilbert. I personally am laughing about it. Greece?!
As much as Nocioni and Ginobili elicit hate from me, I wouldn't mind seeing former Temple Owl Pepe Sanchez take another World 'chip. I am enjoying watching Wizard property Juan Carlos "La Bomba" Navarro. Bien!

Greece was running some crazy new play...the pick and roll????? Good stuff.
Honestly...I can't say I am shocked....because I told myself the whole "we are a new team only together for a few weeks and they are experienced teams and the rules so don't be shocked if they lose"....but I am shocked. This is not what I expected...even though I sorta did. What did Greece shoot lik 80% for 3 quarters? Cmon...Nobody stepped up.

And then, you will finally revel in my greatness like you always should've. MooWoo.....MooWooHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHA"
