This paragraph is loaded with false info. You know I'm neutral, don't have beef with you or anybody....Mad Human wrote:You finally now will understand why a looooot of
users including me share ONLY SNIPPETS. And these guys who take off
the stuff from blogs/youtube/forums are right, and i highly support them.
MP3`s kill the Industry - 100 % is that.
Good Luck!
1. This has absolutely NOTHING to do with why you only share snippets.
You've never said this until now. It was because you thought that you
would get less money on ebay if you uploaded full songs.
2. Mp3s don't kill the industry, the industry killed itself in many, many,
greedy ways, years ago. People buying and selling vinyl on ebay has
nothing to do with the industry. That's just people making money and
others indulging their vinyl addictions. Nothing to do with hip hop.
3. These people who are taking blogs down are not helping anybody.
There is no rhyme or reason to what they're doing or how they're doing it.
How does the TROY blog uploading cypress hill demos from 1992 hurt
anybody? If anything, it makes others aware of cypress hill again.
We don't support or allow the uploading of any mp3s that still have
physical copies available, that the ARTISTs will make money from, either
here or at the blog.
You're supporting something that you don't even know what it is. Industry
heads are not even supporting this, because it's not being done in a logical or correct manner.

I really understand your side. But don`t you think these guys made that decision, because of SELLING and prices? I`m sure they did apparently for that. Yes i still claimed MP3`s kill VINYLS. I got a guy who bought a record 2 days ago from me and do you know what he said? He said:Verge wrote:This paragraph is loaded with false info. "I like the 30-45 second sound clips the best because it gives
you a little taste of what your missing, if you like it of course you will buy it"
Once again i made sure this is right what i`m doing (at least for me).Don`t understand why people got mad about that.Everyone can make decision what he/she will do with own collection. Well everyone will say this is selfish, but is not. No offense at all.
Peace for all of you.

So that's why you have over a 80,000 THOUSAND mp3 share on Soulseek. I repeat, eightythousand mp3 files on computer. (Sure, some are pictures but let's say 70,000 then.)Mad Human wrote:You finally now will understand why a looooot of users including me share ONLY SNIPPETS. You are contradicting yourself in pretty much everything you type/say. But yeah, that might explain why you go by two different personalities on the internet.
And as far as sharing mp3's goes. You should go back and check one of your blogs on how many releases & mp3's you've shared in the past. So, "u killed da industry".

Holy shit, they even trying to take down demos?! This is fucked up. Surely what they are doing must be technically illegal... How can the record company own the rights to 20 year old demos that were never officially released anyway?Verge wrote:was it only a one time thing, aReal? What artist/song/label was it?
I agree completely. They took down our Cypress Hill demos. It makes noHobus Maguire wrote:Verge wrote:I don't know, but I went to go there last night and it said it no longer existed.K-Funk wrote:what happened with vls heaven?
This week, the RIAA and google started a campaign of letting record labels
lawyer "robots" shut down a bunch of blogs.
http://hiphopisread.blogspot.com/2010/0 ... -your.html
This is just insanity. I mean, I can understand them wanting to stop the
blogs that post all the newer shit, but blogs that are purely dedicated to
posting obscure out-of-print vinyl releases that no-one could legally buy
unless they happen to find the shit in some second-hand record store's
bargain bin, or pay hundreds of dollars buying it from some Swedish dude
off ebay?
How the fuck can they make money from that anyway? This is just serious
overkill on the part of the record companies... They probably spending far
more on lawyers and shit to shut these blogs down than they would ever
make from these releases anyway. I mean, WTF??
sense at all. Cypress is a friend of the blog and had nothing to do with it.
And they're friggin almost 20 yr old demos, for christs sake.
I think all the blogs out there need to form some kinda coalition and sue the fucking RIAA. I mean, they probably wouldn't have a chance in hell of winning, but someone needs to take a stand.
I really don't think some people get it.
A piece of vinyl is also a piece of history and an innate proof of appreciation for the artist(s) that created it. It recognizes the entire pipeline that brought it to your hands, from the artist to the label to the master to the pressing to the distributor to the retailer (or individual) and into your hands.
It is a challenge moreso now than ever in acquiring these pieces of indie hiphop history, and I think alot of you are disrespecting the nature of it all.
MP3s come and go and are distributed like candy , and for good reason...everyone loves candy. But to compare an intangible good to the aforementioned product is wrought with naivety. Even if people were rapidly bootlegging MP3's to wax, your [Mad Human's] argument would still not hold water.
After being involved in this culture for some time the only explanation I can come to is that it is all about ego - having something someone else doesn't and making them wish they did. By ripping vinyl and spreading it all over the internet you feel a lowering of that almighty throne. To feel threatened is to feel vulnerable.
Well I feel no pity for you. Be grateful for YOUR crates and share what you can. You want me to feel jealous, invite me over. Till then, peace & love.
EDIT: This deserves its own thread IMO.

I agree with you to a certain extent. Of course one would rather own a physical product than an intangible computer file... However if the only way I can get that physical product is by paying a ridiculous amount of money for a second hand purchase (none of which ends up going to the original artist or label involved), or searching for it for years on end in record store bargain crates... why bother with that when I can listen to it NOW for FREE?
Uh... so are you for or against ripping vinyl?diggy64 wrote:After being involved in this culture for some time the only explanation I can come to is that it is all about ego - having something someone else doesn't and making them wish they did. Hobus, it wasn't directed at you and I am ALL FOR the ripping and sharing of vinyl. I thought that was clear, but oh well.
aReal, I think you're argument is prudent. MP3 downloading and purchasing vinyl are not directly related or mutual exclusive. Meaning that if there is greater availability of an MP3 of a record, that doesn't necessarily mean the record will be worth any less. The quality, rarity, and demand of said record are the only determining factors in market price.
On-topic: I should have some more fresh rips next week - eBay shippers have been slow.

about vinyls, there's not much anyone can do about not being bootlegged. people will always find a way to rip, "steal", share etc. all they pretty much can do is shut the site down, but then 3 more will start doing the same thing. it's all about getting it while you still can. I for one saw this coming which is why I saved a bunch of the links from VLS Heaven before it got shut down. lastly, if you're the company I can see why it would bother you, but aren't alot of these shits for promotional use only?
I do remember seeing this, I just never got it.sajr wrote:A forgotten 12"- Ras Kass, Pharoahe Monch & Hi-Tek-Can you see what I see with a Dave Ghetto joint and a Basic Vocab joint on the B-Side

Here's a fresh full rip at 320 of that Junglez Of The East 12:
A1 Junglez Of The East
A2 Junglez Of The East (edit)[clean]
B1 Buddah Bless Finess (funk dem edits version)
B2 Junglez Of The East (instrumental)

When I got it, it was cracked, but I still ripped it and probably spent over
4-5 hours trying to clean the pops and everything out of it.
So if it isn't the greatest rip ever, my apologies.
But it's all tagged with scans, amplified, and properly labeled up.

No doubt, brohannon. I got well over 50 fresh rips coming
soon. I just gotta fix them up and label them and all that. All fresh 320 joints.
And of course I gotta lot of personal stuff going on so it might
take a little while.
Hopefully that Legit one came out alright cause I put mad hours into that one.
Here's a pic of the crack in it:
It's to the right of the reflection of the kitchen light. It was literally broken.
like if you pull at the vinyl each way you could see the space there and
make the break worse. Luckily it was from a fair seller and I got my
dough back.
