"One family left destitute when her father and leader, from the time his three sons and his widow facing a storm. The four will have to face him his worst nightmare: getting food into their own hands. Continue with its rituals is vital to eat human flesh to survive. really enjoyed the trailer...
Sounds like I might have to make an effort and rent it.The Aluminum Falcon wrote:just saw "The Collector" the other day. That movie is definitely worth a watch if you haven't seen it yet.
What's the deal with this movie, everything I've heard has been pretty mixed and I've been avoiding it because of the whole Saw comparisons?

It isn't very realistic at all, and it definitely has that hollywood feel but it is suspenseful as fuck is all I can say. Maybe it's just me but I can watch all sorts of horror movies, still enjoy them, yet feel nothing. I don't want to give away what happens as I went into it having no clue, but there is literally death around every corner in almost every scene. I'd like to hear your thoughts on it if you check it out.Spartan wrote:Sounds like I might have to make an effort and rent it.The Aluminum Falcon wrote:just saw "The Collector" the other day. I'm not a fan of the SAW franchise myself, but I did enjoy this movie.

Been pretty impressed with the Aussie horror renaissance overall. Heard good things about The Loved Ones and these two new clips have me sold. That's five movies I really want to watch at Frightfest.

I honestly believe he is capable of creating another classic, this doesn't look like it however.

So that Thanksgiving trailer has also been given the go to become a full movie. Eli Roth said it'll be the 'omg bloodiest slasher ever ever' he strikes me as a bit of a douche but the movie might turn out to be okay. First he has to finish a pg13 monsterflick.

Oh he's definitely a douche and an undeserving media darling in the horror press. He needs to drop his own self-importance when using his name to sell other peoples' movies (that would have gone straight to DVD anyway), the deer in headlights acting and focus on Thanksgiving.
Despite some big flaws, I still enjoy his movies, but he's never delivered anything on par with his Splat Pack brethren Ti West, Neil Marshall or Alexander Aja. Those guys at the very least have delivered material of a much higher quality than he's been able to muster - on their own too. Seriously, if it wasn't for his affiliation with Tarantino, he wouldn't be making all these wannabe power moves now.

Hatchet II teaser
I liked the first one but the over the top appraisal of it in this teaser is hilariously from bizarro world.

I used to have Scarecrows on VHS. It's pretty good despite how dumb the plot is. Worth coppin' if it's selling cheap. MGM released a gaggle of horror DVDs on the very same day if I remember correctly including The Burning (which was pretty rare and the VIPCO DVD was selling for silly money before then). If you see both of those movies selling for cheap, then they're worth buying. Awful artwork for both releases though.Tommy Bunz wrote:Spartan, have you (or anyone else for that matter) seen this one? Thinking about picking it up during deepdiscounts sale.
Might as well add that one of the creepiest made for TV movies ever made is finally making it's way to DVD in a couple of months, Dark Night Of The Scarecrow starring Larry Drake. I've got that shit pre-ordered no question.
Latest trailer for African set zombie movie, The Dead. Man, I tried to get tickets for it's European premiere and also Amer for this weekend's Frightfest and they were completely sold out.

I saw you post the cover art for Dark Night in another thread, pretty dope.Spartan wrote:I used to have Scarecrows on VHS. It's pretty good despite how dumb the plot is. There's a ton of shit I would have loved to see @ Frightfest. I think 2010 will look like a really strong year for genre-/horror films once it's closed. Especially when Final Solution, Frozen, Fritt Vilt 3 and a gang of movies, aside from those @ Frightfest (La Horde, Amer, The Dead, Sprski, etc.), sees the light of day. http://www.frightfest.co.uk/frightfestfilms.html - there's barely a movie there I wouldn't want to check out.
Red Hill looks like a very atmospheric horror-western (!) and there's even more Aussie stuff that also looks gripping, Slaughtered and The Tunnel as well.
I think modern horror has perhaps found it's voice. The torture-trend has run it's course more or less and most movies are starting to look a bit more clever and stylish finding a balance between gore and suspense too. If everyone not named Aja stopped doing remakes we'd really be on the right path I feel.

I'm really intrigued by this film for a number of reasons among them is Adam Green's attempt at filming a more psychological movie rather than his usual familiar route of generic scripts and gory set-pieces. I also want to see how this plays out considering all the imposed limitations would probably sound like a huge turn-off for any movie studio.Comedy Quaddafi wrote: Frozen
