Artists You Passionately Loathe That Everyone Jizzes Over
Swagger jacking Employee's thread and to keep it in the same fam, I too am nominated Del.
In HS I fucking loved the shit out of Hiero and nobody could tell me how No Need For Alarm wasn't classic. Del was the man. But none of his music has aged all that well and I find him almost unbearable to listen to since his Deltron work. Something happened and I don't know what, but I just can't enjoy his music anymore. He is a fucking cornball to me and I wish I could change it, but I can't.
He is kinda like the westcoast Buckshot IMO now.
Add on.

Cosign Del but that's more of a passive dislike for me, dude just bores me.
Kanye on the other hand is somebody I loathe actively with every fiber of my soul. He is a complete and total hack aside from a few good beats. His attempts at 'prog' rap are laughable and are hilariously in line with the self indulgent bullshit that gave prog rock such a bad rep 30 years ago. And he just seems to be a piece of shit human being in general.

Kweli seems like the easy choice here but I don't feel like he's got too many supporters round these parts.

i agree with Larry, can't stand to listen to Game in any form.
i can't stand duke's name dropping and basic ass flow so seeing tracklistings of his albums with a dope production line-up that I wish actual dope rappers could get is fucking painful.
I know there's gonna be some banging beats but I'll never heard them more than once since i can't stomach listening to that corny ass faggot.
ditto any female mc's. can't listen to any of them.

Post NNFL Del has been awful. Future Development was a fucking embarrassment (skipped school to buy the self-produced tape w/ the paper photocopied cover from right after that trash got him dropped from Elektra).
I actively dislike El-P
Other unpopular disinterests (don't loathe, but fully don't give a shit):
Ghostface
MF Doom
Mos Def
Andre 3000

Blockhead, is there a reason you hate the West Coast more than Hayzoos' parents hate him?

What are you talking about? I love tons of west coast rap. Especially some of that old nerdy shit you like. I just am aware that there is a whole school of post 93 til infinity/freestyle fellowship stuff that was painfully mediocre even though it's often spoken of fondly. The east coast has that too , just different influences.Employee wrote:Blockhead, is there a reason you hate the West Coast more than Hayzoos' parents hate him?

at this point it might be more surprising to hear somebody praise 9th wonder instead of hate on him

the east coast version of those groups is the entire reason the TROY forum existsBlockhead wrote:What are you talking about? I love tons of west coast rap. You are the first to player hate on West Coast shit all the time (despite the fact that you're exclusively producing an EP for Open Mike Eagle; arguably one of the freshest voices on the West Coast scene), but you especially disdain Bay Area thuggin' shit. You've made your hatred of "P-Funk" & "G-Funk" well known.Blockhead wrote:What are you talking about? I love tons of west coast rap. Especially some of that old nerdy shit you like. never listened to a jay-z album all the way through because he sounds so pretentious

It's true, I think that once G-funk peaked, the result was a whole bunch of shitty bad synth based rap by generic west coast rappers. But that doesn't reflect on my feelings towards the coast as a whole. Some f my all time favorite rappers are from out there. Both nerd rappers and gangster rappers. simply never got into the production style of lots of the bay area gangster shit. Perhaps it's an east coast bias...or that that shit just doesn't resonate with me. Or both.Employee wrote:You are the first to player hate on West Coast shit all the time (despite the fact that you're exclusively producing an EP for Open Mike Eagle; arguably one of the freshest voices on the West Coast scene), but you especially disdain Bay Area thuggin' shit. Whatever the case, I got mad (or "hella" if it makes you feel better) love for west coast rap. Don't be salty bro.
