[quote="Philaflava"]Just remember Philly was the home of the first gangsta rapper. SCHOOLLY D!
Also the home of the world's greatest DJ. Take your pick, Cash Money or Jazzy Jeff.
The Roots are one of the most consistent and innovating bands out there, not to mention Philly has a sick steam of lyricists like Beanie Mac and Maylay Sparks.[/quote
and is the birth place of kurupt.

Any list can't be better than the names listed below.
The Roots
Beanie Sigel
Three Times Dope
Schoolly D
DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince
DJ Cash Money
Dice Raw
Young Gunz
Bahamadia
Last Emperor
Maylay Sparks
Baby Blak
Eve
Mountain Brothers/Chops
Freeway
Kurupt
DJ Spinbad
Jedi Mind Tricks
Outerspace
Chief Kamachi
Tuff Crew
Grand Agent
Now based on that list, I'd take Freeway, Beans, The Roots Jazzy Jeff, Maylay Sparks, Blak, 3XD, Schoolly D, Stoupe, Kurupt, Chops over ANY other region listed.

that's stupid. will smith doesn't live in philly, but he doesn't rep it?ackbar wrote:^^^
the roots, schooly school & sp are about the only cats on that list i really feel. kurupt don't count as philly. he broke in cali. he is cali.
too short has lived in atlanta for god knows how many years, but i wouldn't exactly say he repped it.
NOBODY lives where they started from. Wu lives in Jersey and CT, but they sure do rep Shaolin.
Kurupt is a Philly representative and you can tell by his flow.
yeah i would probably go with the bay, just decided to rep my own city to be honest.Move Free wrote:WOW U WER RITEwuk wrote:i don't even like kanye, but we got...

50 Cent sounds like a dirty south rapper, he must be from Kentucky, not Brooklyn.ackbar wrote:kurupt's music has a westcoast sound. end of story.
Another silly comment. Nowadays anyone can sound like they are from someplace else with all the various producers and styles going on. Kurupt is on westcoast albums, but he is an eastcoast lyricist. At least he was.
kurupt is LA like guru and primo are brooklynPhilaflava wrote:50 Cent sounds like a dirty south rapper, he must be from Kentucky, not Brooklyn.ackbar wrote:kurupt's music has a westcoast sound. end of story.

they came from somewhere else, but them cats rep their new homes
if kurupt started reppin philly, then maybe philly would be up in this, but that cat reps LA hard
You mufuckas are getting annoying with your questions. Each poll has 8 options. Some of these choices are going to be popular and a few aren't. With all the regions there has to be a few cities that get no love. If you don't think a particular region has made enough of an impact on hip-hop then don't vote for it, it's as simple as that.

I went with Philly, because I believe they are the most diverse from the list...many of da siccest mcees are from there...and also SPIRITUAL HIP-HOP has been fantastic in Philly, with a huge fan base!....
(but TORONTO should have been on the list..since we are 5th in the highest sales and population per capita >>> hip-hop culture wyze...and we have a huge amount of indie-underground artists)

I wish I could vote for Seattle, I really do, it's my city and all, but frankly, it doesn't have a lot going for it overall.
I love Oldominion, and there are a lot of guys who have pretty much no exposure who are really dope. Plus we have Vitamin D and Jake One (Rock ko.Caine flow, anybody?) but it just can't win. Maybe in ten years though.

real talk.ackbar wrote:the dungeon family ALONE is much better than chicago
i was having a pretty hard time choosing between the bay, houston and a-town, but ultimately went with the bay because i feel it's produced a more diverse group of artists (a fair share of both backpack and street classics), while at the same time maintaing somewhat of a distinct regional sound.
i can only imagine that those voting for chicago have not listened to much rap from the other areas. if this is not the case could you please support your arguement? and with more than just a large list of artists. because honestly, i cannot fathom how someone can honestly say that kanye and rhymefest are seeing scarface in terms of impact, skill or backcatalog.
