Good Musicians Who Make Shitty Music
I'm not talking about someone like Michael Jackson who fell off. I'm talking about someone who is a talented musician who just makes crappy music. Wait? Is there a difference?
This could get messy.

id go out on the limb and say 50 cent is a talented artist who has succumbed to putting out complete trash. but i think these guys are great who make really shitty music pretty consistently now:
no need to argue, maladroit, the green album or anything else post pinkerton is worth more than a fast forward and a sigh of sadness.

I'd agree with everyone mentioned thus far.
Eminem makes fucking wretched music now-a-days.. its disgusts me.
"ass like that" is vomit-enducing
I'd add Gavin Degraw.
he can sing and I had to cover his performance at my college for a paper... the man can sing, play guitar somewhat well and play piano... but his music is horrible.
the covers he did, he did exceptionally well. Except "let's get it on" no one should touch that song... especially a white man.. no soul.

Just cuz you're 7 foot doesn't make you a good baller..Y@k Bollocks wrote:Whatabout all those crazy technical guitarists like Yngwie Malmsteen who just do that really self indulgent horrible guitar stuff.
Also, people like Kid Koala. Really impressive, sounds boring to me.
Those types of people can't make good music.. they don't have the ear, heart or drive to do so....

I'd say more so Q-Bert, or even some of Mix Master Mike's Albums, as well.Y@k Bollocks wrote:Whatabout all those crazy technical guitarists like Yngwie Malmsteen who just do that really self indulgent horrible guitar stuff.

They're great DJ's but I don't want to hear someone scratch a car alarm sound over an electro beat for an hour.

Yeah, when I saw this thread the first name I thought of was Yngwie Malmsteen, followed by other guitar geniuses like Joe Satriani. If you can play great technically, that's cool, but rock isn't jazz. Jeff Beck is the one of this breed who can make semi-listenable albums, but mostly because he constructs them like jazz-fusion albums. Some of the prog rock bands are also great players who make boring, shitty albums--Emerson,Lake & Palmer, for instance. Some of those avant garde gurus, like Derek Bailey,
are pretty unlistenable.

Strange, Yngwie Malsteem and Joe Satriani were the first people I thought of too.
A lot of the bands in the 70's had great skills but churned out super-shitty music - the aforementioned Emerson, Lake, and Palmer, the Grateful Dead, Rush, etc.
And come to think of it, a lot of stuff that people like to listen to while high falls into this category...
