Apocalypse Now and the rest are not even close. No other war movie with the possible exception of Dr Strangelove showed the absurdity of war.

Surprised The Great Escape isn't in the poll though.

NO, what I mean is it is listed yet there is no dot to vote for it??? Or maybe I'm not seeing it, but I don't think it is listed as a possible choice to vote for on the poll..

FMJ, although I might have lumped it into comedy as R Lee Ermey gives one of the best comedic performances ever seen in film

yeah. full metal jacket is my second pick but that's a distant second. Apocalypse now showed how America lost the war psychologically. "charlie's idea of r&r is squatting in a pit eating a cold bowl of rice".
Couple things I heard about the movie:
martin sheen actually freaked out & punched the mirror at the beginning when he was drunk, and they managed to get it on camera.
marlon brando threw away the script & improvised all his lines.
1. Nas
2. Drake
that's pretty much it fam.

little bit exaggerated but yea, there's some truth to both. if you really into this flick, they just released a special edition with redux and original movie feature with options for commentary by coppola over the whole movie (best director commentary i've EVER heard, he remembers EVERYTHING), plus other dope bonuses like brando reading the entire hollowmen poem by eliot on camera, etc, etc. hours upon hours to pass time.
plus his wife made a documentary while they filmed the movie through nervous breakdowns, typhoons, and numerous other setbacks, and released it on VHS called hearts of darkness. im not sure if it's on DVD yet.
