i did, i'm just confused. at the end there are you saying jews are rooting for jay electronica? i don't see it. i feel like all hip-hop heads are.
i think if you want to talk in terms of visible jewish support behind a new rapper the argument is more convincing with drake.
would there even be a connection between jay and jews if those two bars weren't in exhibit c?

Well you do realize this was all tongue-in-cheek, right? I agree, most of the hip-hop heads out there are rooting for Jay, but more people, especially those directly involved in hip-hop that just happen to be Jewish seem to really support him. It probably has to do with him being authentic and truly talented, where as Drake is not that authentic, nor as talented.starks wrote:i did, i'm just confused. at the end there are you saying jews are rooting for jay electronica? i don't see it. i feel like all hip-hop heads are.

and i appreciated the post, i'm jewish too
i just think it's a bit much on anyone's part to connect the dots between jews and jay elect, or put cultural support behind an extremely small cultural nod being two words he used in a song. apparently that's all it takes, which is interesting.
i think just as likely as jay using any more jewish words is him starting to deny the holocaust. if you read the dude's twitter he says some pretty batshit crazy things.

Well he isn't really a man of just one religion. He is well-versed in Judaism and has stated on several occasions that he still learning and has contemplated the switch. He does say some wild shit, but what dope rapper doesn't?starks wrote: i just think it's a bit much on anyone's part to connect the dots between jews and jay elect, or put cultural support behind an extremely small cultural nod being two words he used in a song. apparently that's all it takes, which is interesting.
Dope read.
Gloss you know about D. Schwartz??
My homie did the video. I got a cameo, in full hipster-ware. Dulce & Gabbana jacket gawwds. Dana Dearmond was the first porn-star I ever met.

Not to stray away from Jay Elec, but this song is dope. You from down here in S. Florida, Renessis? I've heard some stuff from D. Shwartz over the years. I've always been a fan.Renessis wrote:Dope read.

Never heard of him but the video was pretty impressive for an unknown. He looks/sounds a bit like Alchemist. Nothing I'd personally rock but he isn't bad by any means.Renessis wrote:Dope read.

So this happened in Chicago last night. Why would they have him open for a jam band, I have no idea.

I live in LA, that video was shot in Chatsworth, my homie directed. He's been a fan of D since the Fresh Air Fund days, and linked with him a while back. D got on one of my beats, but we never ended up using it. I made a cameo, helped clean up the shoot afterwards. D's mad dope, his visuals were shot in South Florida.Sherlock wrote:Not to stray away from Jay Elec, but this song is dope. You from down here in S. Florida, Renessis? I've heard some stuff from D.
